Record cleaning

Post by plastic37 »

As part of the preparations for an event i am doing i had some records cleaned on the pro machine at Sworfish Records in Birmingham. I can't recommend it highly enough.
First time i have had any records cleaned in this way. It won't be the last.

what did they charge?

there's a local hifi shop that offers ultra-sonic and VPI cleaning, i do it once in a while for a valuable record.

I just did this for a Beatles White Album Mobile Fidelity LP and it made a HUGE difference. No way I could sell this as N.Mint which is how it looked visually. There was so much crap in the grooves. The VPI machine sucked it right out. There is a local Hi Fi place that did it for free. Which was very nice. Now this LP plays like it looks. N.Mint. Very pleased.

I think they charge £1 a disc or side.
They did mine for free in exchange for some social media publicity in connection with the event.
Which was very nice of them.

Dave,
Do you happen to recall the name or manufacturer of the ultrasonic cleaner?
