Are you coming over the the gig in Leeds?
It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

A Northern Soul is getting a vinyl reissue. thought I would flag it as I don't believe it's ever actually been issued since 1995?

I wonder if this has any bearing on any possible unreleased/rare stuff seeing ever the light of day. I remember hearing somewhere that expanded reissues were in the works but it's gone quiet.

wooooh! I wonder if the cover will printed with the original mirror (ish) effect? I don't reckon we'll ever get expanded reissues unless maybe cherry red get the rights.

there's another thread on here about the Japanese ASIH. it's a bootleg but quite a well done one apparently.
ooh what was it? like a mirror effect round the edge?spunder wrote: wooooh! I wonder if the cover will printed with the original mirror (ish) effect? I don't reckon we'll ever get expanded reissues unless maybe cherry red get the rights.
yeah you are probably right. I thougth seeing as the band were so big, reissues would be a no brainer. if bloody Cast have had expanded reissues, why not The Verve? that makes you think it would have happened now if it was going to.

it looked like a screen print on super shiny silver card. the back cover w/ Si at the vending machine looked fantastic.
why it hasnt happened? politics; i think it has to be a full agreement with all parties. Ashcroft off with the fairies.

ah that's a shame. all those wonderful B sides, plus by all accounts lots of stuff we haven't heard, not to mention there's never been a Verve live album (unless you count Voyager 1).. criminal.spunder wrote:

Indeed. Would love some studio rehearsals. There's plenty of decent quality live gigs floating about tho.angelsighs wrote:

Re: Verve A Storm in Heaven 3x LP
the ANS demos are floating around the net. bit hissy but great.
when you think about it, a lot of the better songs from the Urban Hymns era were actually written in the Northern Soul period:
Drugs Don't Work
Country Song
The Rolling People
Come On
Echo Bass (I think?)
talk about a band firing on all cylinders.

Yes I've got them, not much different to the finished articles, I wanna hear the hours of jams that these songs were birthed from while Ashcroft was titting about in London with Miss Radley.angelsighs wrote:the ANS demos are floating around the net. bit hissy but great.

“You're not Dostoevsky,' said the citizeness
'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.
'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.
'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”
