Yep Im going to the first night @ The Roundhouse. Only saw them once back in the day. Really good band in my opinion, very unfairly lumped in with britpop (although third album does dance very close to this genre) First two albums are sublime

I'll be going the first night also. Seen them a couple times back in the 90's. Will be a nice 'date' night with the mrs.

I see they've decided to call it a day - not surprising after the bass player quit last month, I guess. I thought the Blind Spot EP was great and was looking forward to hear a new long player. Shame. Last gig is the Manchester one next week.

Interesting interview with Miki from Lush (and now Piroshka) about why Lush initially split up and then why they split up again. I didn't release they were going to call it a day before Chris Acland comitted suicide (well, Emma annouced she was quitting). Bit of a bitter sweet read really:

I know exactly why they split, haven't read the article yet, so will dive in now, if its come from Miki then it will be a watered down version with lots missed out.
Incidentally I caught Piroshka in Manchester a little while back, musically excellent but the songs were a bit bland and I got a bit bored if I'm honest

Well in fairness having read that she touches upon why they split up the 2nd time, there is bit more to it than whats on paper but its true what she says.
That said that really is an excellent piece, superbly crafted and a good read, I always enjoyed her lyrics, she does write well.
Maybe I give the Piroshka album a listen properly and see what I make of it

re: Piroshka album. I agree with you. I've probably listened to it twice all the way through, thought it was was a bit bland, and any other attempts to listen as lead me to fast forward, skip tracks and eventually putting something else on. I guess I'm more of an Emma fan - I thought the two Sing Sing albums were great. By the sounds of it Emma wrote all four tracks on the EP they released when they reformed (Out of Control is classic Lush - really good). As well as the money side of things it sounds like Miki had nothing - in terms of writing music - to bring to the table when they were thinking about recording a new album. Ah well, maybe Emma will start a new band one day.....

hmmm, i'm sure theres issues regarding the reunion split including a drink driving conviction and punching someone which has been politely surpassed in that interview.....

https://planetradio.co.uk/podcasts/q-ma ... ten/15832/ I think most of it is covered in this podcast interview with Miki, some interesting stuff, not only in this episode but others as well, pretty decent listen I thought

Yes that's pretty much the version I was told by a credible source, I think the lack of disclosing said conviction on the Visa application was the initial problem, hence cancelled gigs etc

Seems like they turned on her after they weren't concerned about disclosing her dui, then suddenly changed their minds when money was involved, sad... So this is why Phil didn't play the last gig. Shame. As much as I love ride and slowdive I think their comeback shows were a little better of the 3

Anyone else read Miki's autobiography? It came out at the end of last year and I got it for Xmas. It's well written and an interesting read. First part of the book deals with her childhood - pretty difficult in places - and the second half deals with Lush. It doesn't paint a very favourable picture of other "indie" stars such as Bobby Gillispie, members of Blur etc. I've just read an interview with Miki where she says that Emma was sent a copy of the book before it was published and wasn't very happy about it. I can imagine. It makes the whole music industy sound very dysfunctional. A recommended read!

I have a pdf of of it but not got around to reading it. Mainly due to the fact i don't get the same enjoyment from reading books on a screen as a physical copy and all reviews suggest this is a very good read. So i don't really want to do it half-arsed. Just like Stuart Braithwaite's book, i'm holding out for a paperback version.

There's some excitment on the Lush Fan Club FB page about the increase in social media acivity for Emma Anderson. Talk of new music by Emma being released on Sonic Cathedral. Hope it's true. Really enjoyed the Sing Sing stuff.

Very much enjoying Emma's debut album, Pearlies. Lovely melodies and a great mellow vibe. Hope she does decide to tour these songs.
