Andrew Weatherall - 'Convenanza'

Post by BzaInSpace »

Andrew Weatherall's debut LP A Pox On The Pioneers was an an amazing slow burn thing for me and in recent years I've probably listened to it as much as other classics. That album is absolutely incredible - loads of joy on there and an amazing Prince-style production, and songs that burrow into your mind for keeps.

Can't wait for this - pre-ordered the 1000 only vinyl as Weatherall records are usually snapped up immediately.

The Confidence Man.

I love A Pox On Your Pioneers - one of the most unexpected albums to hit me in the last 18 months or so. Lots of 70s glam rock on that! I have faith in the great man so... ordered!

Quietly taken aback how good this track sounds after a beer or two and 3/4 listens,

2016 has got off to a good start from Weatherall - he's made an album with Nina Walsh as the Woodleigh Research Facility, out now:

It looks like Rough Trade started sending the white vinyl out yesterday. Rotter's Golf Club, Andrew's label, actually sent the cd's of this out a month ago and I've been playing it constantly ever since I received it. A mixture of Dub, Indie melodies and Blaxploitation soundtrack style funk, sometimes all in one track. I think it's an excellent album and hope it gets the attention it deserves.

Great interview with the Guv'nor here: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/f ... o-maverick . If you can bear picking up Q Magazine then there's another interview in there too. Plus a really nice one with Nina Walsh here http://www.factmag.com/2016/02/18/andre ... interview/

He's such a cool music loving gent isn't he. I've been playing his older stuff of late, albums like Two Lone Swordsmen "Tiny Reminders", the Wilmot b-side "Rumble Summons" which is fantastic and the mangled remix of Leave Home by the Chemical Brothers. Not sure I like his new album as much as previous releases but will play it some more.
