Primal Scream RSD release feat. Jason

Hmmm...must admit I hate all the original house stuff. Couldn't stand it then and I don't think most of it has aged well at all. But that's just me.
Definitely seems the new Scream album will be all shiny disco pop.
I will probably buy the 12" though

In fact, having just reminded myself how good the original is, I would bet one of my testicles that the `Scream, aided by Spaceman and whoever else fail to better it, Gillespie is always latching onto whoever or whatever in the hope of reflected glory sticking to the Scream, he does know a good tune though, I`ll give him that,

Re: Primal Scream RSD release feat. Jason
I have listened to this song over and over and over today on the iPlayer. In my car to & from work, on headphones on my lunch break... I think it's the best thing Primal Scream have done for years. Completely thrilling. Perfect backing vocals, a great dirty groove, Burning Wheel-esque tablas and what I presume is Jason's guitar letting loose towards the end. This is what Primal Scream should sound like.
Re: Primal Scream RSD release feat. Jason
Anybody know how many copies of this have been pressed for RSD?

1250 copies according to this http://www.resident-music.com/productde ... t_id=40853 Hope I bag one.BVCP206 wrote:Anybody know how many copies of this have been pressed for RSD?
Really loving it. The original is fantastic too, as were much of the S'Express singles. I remember seeing Mark Moore DJ at Ministry Of Sound back in the early 90's and he played Don't Fight It Feel It. I was very loved up under the lights and definitely feeling it.
On discogs you can still readily buy their last RSD 12" from 2013 for under a tenner. It's tempting to wait with this new 12" as well, avoid the initial overpriced cost, avoid the initial ebay madness.......but then there's that niggling feeling of "what if I miss out".
Re: Primal Scream RSD release feat. Jason
Think its a pretty cool version myself, but buggered if I`m paying £20 or something for it, RSD prices are extortionate, and I am aware of some of the reasons for this, but I`ll be looking for better value for my money than that.

I think I'll wander into Leeds Saturday morning at some point and try and pick it up not getting up at silly o'clock though as I have in years gone by! Weirdly it annoys me now when I see something on the annual list I want because the whole concept of it doesn't sit very easily with me these days! Just my opinion

I wasn't going to bother either until I saw this listed a couple of months ago. I think this is going to retail at £9.99 and there's a record shop in Belgium on Musicstack already selling this for £15. Apparently it is part of a tribute to S'Express which will come out digitally in the near future if, for any reason, you can't get hold of the vinyl. 1,250 is fair amount though, and I'm sure there will be some available on Discogs in a few days for cost price once the dust settles.

Thanks once again FM Spaceman...
If anybody in the UK can pick up a spare copy of this, let me know.
Otherwise I'm gonna try my luck with eBay and such.
Again though, what an amazing track.
Maybe these guys should do a whole album together.

I got a copy yesterday morning after standing in line from 7am at my local shop. It's such a great record. The b side is a stunning instrumental, so beautiful sounding.
I also picked up the 10" picture disc of the 13th Floor Elevators "You're Gonna Miss Me".

Re: Primal Scream RSD release feat. Jason
Blimey, that was a high price! Like you say though, it's a beautiful record, 4 slabs of quality vinyl and no doubt a lovely package. I'll keep an eye on Discogs for it later down the line. These first few days after RSD are always a silly period on eBay.
The Orb all-nighters at Brixton Academy back in the day were fantastic. Not sure I quite remember the details (due to the obvious reasons, and the passing of time itself) but the vibe of those events, and the Scream all-nighters too, were amazing and very special. I'd love to see the upcoming gig in a seated venue actually.

I wish!
Apparently a record shop has opened in Inverurie that carried RSD stock but no way could I get there on Saturday.
Anyway I only wanted 'Mantra for A State Of Mind' - by midday Saturday eBay had loads of copies, all going for £25 all in, at this point that's way too much for a 2 track record.
Was tempted to go for the 'buy it now' option, but for now will take Johnny's advice and wait a bit.
Done a sterling (even if I do say so myself) HQ rip of the A-side - can share here if desired, but can anyone get me a rip of the instrumental b-side?

Re: Primal Scream RSD release feat. Jason
The Quietus ran a very critical Record Store Day article last month, and I found much to agree with. In summary, the major record companies have overwhelmed RSD and are using re-releases, "exclusives" and "limited editions" to fleece the punters, as per usual - particularly for reissuing LPs that (thanks to their ubiquity at the time of release) anybody could pick up in their local charity shop for a quid.

Re: Primal Scream RSD release feat. Jason
The vultures have been there from day 1. You cant stop that. They are like rats the come out of the gutter on RSD in April and RSD Black Friday. Not to be seen in a record shop in between those days. That is sad.
What I dont understand is point 3 in that Quietus piece. The shops have to way over order just to get a decent fill of RSD stock. Most shops around here that starts at $5000 and goes up to $30,000. No returns.
Do these shops all make that much that whatever unsold stock they wind up with is worth it?
Maybe.
It just sucks but I still go to a few shops that day in the afternoon. I am not waiting in line in the morning for any record.

I've just picked up a copy of 'Mantra for A State Of Mind'.
For anyone in the Leeds (ish) area, Norman Records have a few left, you can call in and purchase one in person before midnight Friday. After that take your chance with the website sale.
They also have a few Orb and Lush LPs left but both of those are outside of my budget.

In a week of horrible news for music, I'm very cheered to score an unopened copy of this at £9.99 plus postage tonight.
Given a week ago this was going for double that, it's the small victories that count!
