Transmission will be released early this year via Drone

Billed as “discordant, repetitious, far-out, hi-NRG techno”, Death In Vegas will return with a sixth full-length, Transmission, at the end of May.

The first track has been revealed as You Disco I Freak and features artist, writer, and former adult film performer Sasha Grey on vocals. Death In Vegas originator Richard Fearless bonded with Grey over a love of Throbbing Gristle and Carter Tutti, and she and her lyrics will feature throughout the album.

The album will also be laced with field recordings of droning air traffic and noise from the steel factory opposite Fearless’ Metal Box studio.

“You're not Dostoevsky,' said the citizeness

'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

Good news. The last DiV album was exceptional but has already become an another "lost classic" sadly.

Yep, good news alright. I reckon they might turn up at LPF.

Sasha Grey though. Not sure how I feel about that.

Guess the new "disco" direction means we'll never see the likes of this again:

Pity.

I've been following the Death In Vegas news on Facebook and am getting excited for the new album. The solo releases of Richard Fearless on the Drone label have been really cool as well. I agree with BZA, the last DiV album was brilliant and did kind of get lost even though it was well reviewed when it came out. Saw them live around that time and it was a stunning gig. Picked up a nice sew patch that now sits on the left shoulder of my denim jacket.

yes a very particular sort of talent.. not one that is apparent when listening to an album though :?

is getting her in possibly a bit gimmicky/a way to be edgy?

Not sure possibly, but I had to delete my history on my laptop fairly sharpish !!

She seems to of been out of that scene for a while, appearing in more mainstream pictures, guest vox and doing a bit of writing, so maybe there is a bit more to her than we know.

Possibly .....

To be fair, Fearless has always been fascinated by/accommodating to the sleazier side of life. Thinking back to tracks such as Leather/Girls and certainly a lot of the stage visuals...

Remember 'Incognito mode'...

Nice patch Johnny.

Trans-Love Energies... That second tune in still sounds like if Iggy did the vocals to a MBV track. The whole (double) album is filled with great music. I love the heavy and hypnotic electronic edge and 'Your Loft My Acid' - both versions - is the greatest DiV single so far.

A request: Would anyone have mp3's of the various DIV singles and remixes they'd be willing to share? Just realised that apart from the albums all I have is a couple of 12".

Thanks :)

There's some brilliant use of Drones by Fearless on Satan's Circus. 'Head' be in a good example - always bring to mind the Spacemen.

I keep coming back to this album. I think it's their best by some distance - they've never made an album this cohesive or consistent before, it's brilliant from the first track onwards.

Hi Johnny, I'm a bit late to the party but I am desperate to know where you got that amazing Death In Vegas patch,
I've searched high and low for a similar one to no avail. You're not selling yours are you??

Hi Chris, I got it at a gig when they toured Trans-Love Energies. No idea where you'd get one from now to be honest. My one is still sewn onto my denim jacket and won't be coming off anytime soon. I posted the same photo on the DiV Facebook page and Fearless shared it which was cool, then quite a few people commented on it with pictures of their own patch and sewing/iron on skills. Mine looked the best of course. 8)

Anyone heard the new Richard Fearless album 'Deep Rave Memory'?

Similar vibe to the last DIV lp (well, i think it is. I've not listened to Transmission in a loooooong time). Certainly similar to DIV live appearances of recent years. I do wish he'd up the bpm's though. All through his career he's had some tunes that would've been massively improved just by increasing the tempo a bit.

On the new album, Atlas of Insanity is the perfect example of the speed he should be operating at for the more dancefloor oriented numbers. Apply those bpm's to Devil on Horseback and Acid Angels and you've got a far more memorable record.

Have a listen here: https://droneout.bandcamp.com/album/deep-rave-memory

Yeah I grabbed a copy, its alright, agree though it does get a bit pedestrian and I dont mean in anambient way either. Some tracks are good. Andy bells GLOK album is far superior in my opinion
