Something Cheery

Post by clewsr »

Hello,

I'd been meaning for a while to make myself a cd to wake up to...slowly. I thought the Kenzo tracks would be good as a basis, and so I looked over other Spiritualized tracks to see what would fit alongside them. I came up with this little playlist, which for the last week or so has been nursing me into consciousness in the mornings.

I think all the tracks have a similar uplifting zipiness to them, and these days we probably could all do with a bit of uplifting zippiness, so I thought I'd share. You've probably got all the tracks, but perhaps not listened to them together like this before.

1. Drive (Demo)
2. Kenzo Women
3. Kenzo Men
4. Luminescence (Stay With Me)
5. I want you Instrumental (Friendly Fire)
6. Effervescent (Chimes)
7. Beautiful Happiness
8. Rocket shaped song
9. drive (remix, battery studios by anjali dutt)

Let me know what you think and if I've missed anything obvious.

Hello!

I'm gonna download this and listen, although I have a million other things to listen and do today...

Good call though Clewsr: 'Kenzo - Men' is one of the most rocket-shaped songs I've ever heard! 'Women' is pure dancehall as reworked on by Spiritualized.

Most people I know seem very down at the moment, where I work is heavier than normal

It's really important to focus on the good right now.

Cheers...

Hi Bza,

It is back now. The link is to a shared folder and one of my friends may have deleted it.

Hello,

Bouyed by the fact that at least 3 people downloaded the previous Kenzo instrumental mix, I thought there was mileage in making another more string based instrumental CD.

This one is interesting, very different from the last, but between them I think the two cd's cover nearly all instrumental tunes released by Jason. I've included a smattering of the Mr Lonely soundtrack together with the recording of Silent Sound.

I've limited the run time to 80 minutes just in case any one out there is like me and still plays cd's.

Track listing -

01 Michael's Opening
02 Huh (intro)
03 Lay back in the sun (instrumental)
04 Paris Beach
05 Spread your wings (instrumental)
06 Blues 1
07 Feel So Sad (Glides And Chimes)
08 Pope in the Bath
09 Cool Waves (Demo)
10 Cool Waves (Instrumental)
11 Harmony 2 (And Then a Miracle Occurs)
12 Silent Sound
13 Garden Walk
14 Broken Heart [Instrumental][Japanese Version]
15 Musicbox Underwater
16 harmony 1 (mellotron)
17 harmony 2 (piano)
18 harmony 3 (voice)
19 harmony 5 (accordion)
20 Electric Mainline
21 Huh_ (outro)

Re: Something Cheery / the Complete Instrumentals

Post by clewsr »

You are very welcome. Frustratingly though my claim that these two sets cover nearly all on Jason's instrumentals is way off the mark. I've no idea for instance how I missed Rock and Roll and Going down slow instrumentals as I originally planned to include them, and there are several other tracks. I'm pleased with how this mix turned out, but I think a third and final CD will be necessary!

NCH Mixpad multitrack recording software will allow you to do this. You can have a background track repeat while you add all the other songs as tracks and then save it into a single file. Pretty easy to use. I used it to put together a compilation a while back with all the tracks melting into each other and it turned out pretty well for a first time user.

Also, if you look hard enough, you'll find it online for free!
