just bought q magazine as it has a new feature on ladies and gents
“You're not Dostoevsky,' said the citizeness

'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

this article is actually pretty good. some tidbits I wasn't aware of before. they interview John Coxon as well as Jason's PR man from the time (if I remember correctly)

the original working title of Cop Shoot Cop was After John Prine (geek points to those who know why)

Machine Gun is hard to get hold of, I think. But I've got Fuck De Boare which has a live version and it's intense stuff

Might check out Arvo Part too!

Yeah some nice pics in there too some of which I hadn't seen before!

Re John Prine...... An old guy i know turned me on to this guy years ago..... It was a weird coincidence finding out about the Cop Shoot Cop reference... The old guy also had some good stories about being Lemmys and Phil Lynotts dealer, but I digress......

Good looks on uploading the PDF.
I would have never seen it otherwise.
Nice pic of Jason with Dr. John.
I had to go back and listen to the 3 disk reissue and that particular Dr. John National Anthem part.
Good stuff.

Thanks man!

I've been a fan of this piece for along time.

Funnily enough I heard it first on radio 3 on a Saturday afternoon years and years ago (before I knew how much J liked Arvo Part's music). They deconstructed the parts and played it in sections, then they played the whole piece the whole way through. It floored me how incredibly beautiful it was. And the guy presenting the show also mentioned that the bell at the end is inaudible until and few seconds after it's been hit - Stuff like that blows my mind. Understanding how the brain interprets sound and incorporating it into your music in such a subtle and powerful way.

Proof if any was needed that great music is created not by what you play but what you leave out. That's certainly true of Arvo Part

Didn't Q award it 2/5 stars?!
