going to check this out as soon as I get a chance. not sure how it will pan out seeing others sing these songs, but will be interesting at the very least.

apparently not only was Scott present but he loved it!

Thanks for posting - I saw Jarvis posting on Instagram about this and I'm keen to hear it. Great to know Scott loved it.

finally got round to watching some of this last night... so great to hear the songs done with all the bells and whistles and with the orchestral arrangements done so faithfully.

the singers were a mixed bag though. Jarvis Cocker may be a friend and advocate of Scott but his voice is just too small sounding for these type of songs, he can't seem to sustain notes so it was just like he was whispering over the orchestra. I find Richard Hawley a bit mediocre too but It's Raining Today still sounded great.

Susanne Sundfor was the revelation for me. a fine singing voice and really adding her own twist to the songs. doing the female siren thing rather than trying to be Scott.

gonna watch the second half tonight.

Finished off watching this, not much to add to what I said above really. John Grant also had an impressive singing voice, I enjoyed his version of The Seventh Seal.

Really it was the orchestra etc that made it so good. They didn't have to compromise on anything and every note was there.

I liked how they opened with the instrumental prologue from When The Band Comes In. And sometimes there'd be a string drone going into the next song

Bet the bassplayer loved playing the bassline to The Old Man's Back Again!!

Damn it. I can't watch it here in the US. Who sang "The Old Man's Back Again"?

Richard Hawley sang that one.

I did actually download the video to my laptop as I have limited internet access at the moment. I would try and share it for you but it's done via the BBC player app so I don't think it's possible... :/
