Thanks for this! Looking forward to giving it a listen. Although I had some stuff before, it's only in the last couple of years that I've REALLY gotten into Minimalism. In that time, I've acquired a lot of the stuff on this Mix. But there are things on there I haven't heard. So thanks for taking the time to put it together and for sharing it here. I hope to one day see this BBC special, too...

Amazing stuff, thank you :)

FMSpaceman, I dunno if you're interested or if you already have it, but I'm listening to a very strange but utterly wonderful Orb-related release right now. It's called "4Orbidden Mission" and was released in utterly tiny quantities by a guy who apparently regularly boots KLF related stuff. It's ten massively extended (relatively album-faithful) mixes of tracks from "Ultraworld" and "U.F.Orb", clocking in at more than 3.5 hours in total - there's so little info about it on the internet it's hard to tell if it's from a legit Orb-related source or a fan-made remix project. That said, if it's the latter, it's the most professional homebrew remixing I've ever heard - this sounds like it's come straight from the never-heard DATs of Dr Paterson (& Mr. Cauty) himself, albeit with wonderful extra samples dotted everywhere (including an extended Monty Python dialogue in Spanish Castles!) This is the tracklist, from Discogs:

1-1 Intro (2:25)
1-2 Little Fluffy Clouds (17:55)
1-3 O.O.B.E (18:14)
1-4 Blue Room (27:03)
1-5 U.F.Orb (12:05)
2-1 Spanish Castles In Space (23:03)
2-2 Perpetual Dawn (15:00)
2-3 Towers Of Dub (19:47)
2-4 Assassin (20:25)
3-1 A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld (Loving U) (53:47)

Appended to this is a related "Orb" track from a later release by the same guy:

A Huge 54 Minute Mix Mk 2 (54:55)

I randomly found out about it whilst googling last week, and once I'd mopped up the drool, I went searching. After coming up a blank for hours (and enraging my anti-virus software!) I eventually found a well-hidden youtube rip of everything save the first Intro track, all of which I promptly ripped for posterity. If you (or anyone else!) hasn't heard this and is interested, give me a shout and I'll PM you with a link :)

I’ve enjoyed this series and the music, thanks to FMSpaceman for the compilation . Has anyone listened to Ex-Easter Island Head? I watched & listened at Liverpool Pyschfest and was almost put into a trance like state!

Happy to share the list, Mr. Spaceman. I, too, am very excited by such lists which is why I make them. I wish I could say I managed to acquire all the things on the list but I think I only have about a dozen of them so far. Luckily, thanks to the magic of the internet, I've been able to hear a lot more of them. It's somewhat surprising to me how many of these Minimalist albums are on Youtube! I spent quite awhile looking them up on Discogs and sampling them through the videos posted there...

Also, Superior Viaduct (who are just now reissuing some Spacemen 3 stuff in the U.S., as discussed on another thread) have reissued a nice selection of some of the LPs on the list. In fact, through their Etats-Unis imprint, they are reissuing one of the more fascinating (and rare!) items on the list: Machine Guitars by Remko Scha. Should be out next month in a limited run of 500. Hoping to get one...

And thanks again for your mixes :D
