Looks like the CD is already out via the Glass Redux Bandcamp page. I have heard about colored vinyl, though. Maybe it's just bad information. In any case, I probably won't buy it. I have an original vinyl copy and unless it's remastered to be louder and more dynamic, I don't think it's worth paying for. My copy is ridiculously quiet and it's a very flimsy pressing.

There's a thread on the SP3 page about the vinyl. From my reading, Palmer may be involved...

My flimsy pressing was so flimsy it was cracked on delivery. They sent a replacement though, so the way I look at it now is that I've got two sleeves, one full pressing, and one I would have to treat as a 7”.

Click on the link for instant panic about bankruptcy 8) . Thankfully there are not that many things I want this year. Top of the list of the non-Spz/SP3/Spectrum things for me are the Sigur Ros records closely followed by the Dirty Three and Dylan and the Dead reissues.

One of the best RSD lists in a few years in my book. There are still issues with the whole concept, but in terms of desirable releases I think it's a good one

Definitely Want:
Brian Eno & Kevin Shields
The Dream Syndicate
Spiritualized

I really really hope they have beefed up the master for FUI. That's all it needs to be perfect.
Is it me or is the new sleeve for Taking Drugs.. a bit crap? It looks like it's trying to be the kind of psych that Sp3 totally isn't

Also if money was no object:
Dirty Three (they seem to be gradually reissuing the D3 catalogue each RSD can't wait till they get to Ocean Songs)
Ride (although how often I would actually play an album of remixes is debatable)
Durutti Column

Amid the chaff, there are a few RSD gems this year.

A chance to finally hear The Isness in its original (and many say far superior) form makes that a must, while the Jah Wobble thing also appeals.

The Sigur Ros LPs are a non-starter due to lack of availability and the Sp3/Spz/Spectrum releases appear to have Palmer's grubby fingerprints all over them I reckon.

Ha! Thanks for the kind words. If they do remaster it, it would be interesting to hear the results. I bought the Plain reissue some time ago, mainly just for the gorgeous intaglio foil sleeve in proper 12" fashion.

I have no notes or anything of that remastering thing, I do know I did it quickly and under duress though. Undoubtedly could be done better I'm sure.

I really hope they've beefed up the mastering on it. the job Bza did was great, these recordings need to be heard dynamically!

if they sort it out, it will kind of be the ultimate Spiritualized release in many ways.great sleeve, great title, band caught live at the top of their game.

my Perfect Prescription CD needs beefing up considerably too.
anyone know why PP seems to have been left out of the Spacemen reissues? (as far as I can see?)

Yep. The original was black and white (no pink or yellow) but exact same artwork. Not Natty's artwork apparently but Byron Coley's. Follow the link below.

Never saw FUI or Taking Drugs..... Only by ebay flippers. Upon further reading it sounds like the RSD version of FUI is pressed from the same plates as the recent reissue. I hope this true.
I did pick up the Highs Lows LP and it sounds fantastic.
Also picked up the Neil Young 1976 Live Lp
2 MC5 7"s
Frank Wilson 7"
Say what you want about RSD but it really is a big shot in the arm for shops. I enjoy the communal atmosphere. Unfortunately you are never going to stop the flippers. It did get a lot of publicity here. I was down at Third Man Saturday and it was hopping.

I want a copy of FUI if anyone finds one at a reasonable price.
My main local record shop gets a lot of hard to find stock once shops return their unsold vinyl.
I have asked them to order all the Spectrum and Spiritualized they find and I will make sure they sell them all.
I am waiting for a few of the left overs to get marked down.

Is this different to BZA's Remaster, and also different to the one that we have seen released through Adasam and Glass Redux (that's also linked to Gerald Palmer that no one wants to really buy)?

Is the RSD release separate and an official Spz release of good quality that will have the money going to the band?

The idea of a much louder FUI sounds great - I love this era of Spz and was also disappointed by how quiet the original Dedicated / fanclub release was.

I asked my local shop to order as many Spz and Spectrum LPs as they can. There is whole round of second chance ordering that goes on. For anyone in the US I will let you know and you would be able to order direct from them. They are reasonable too.

I put this up on the "good to be back" thread....
still managed to grab exactly what I wanted... Neil Young's Tonights The Night at The Roxy, Brian Eno/Kevin Shields split 12", Gnod/White Hills LP and the FUI reissue, which I can confirm sounds much clearer/louder than the original.
Its a heavy slab of vinyl, the packaging is pretty much an exact replica of the original pressing but the overall sound has more depth and a fuller sound. :D

1. Great to see the board is back. It's like I'd lost my right (& left) arms for a while there.

2. Went to the Founder Effect show at Cafe Oto. Fantastic. I've been trying to post a review all week, but can't find the words. Basically totally free-improv type stuff is way out of my area of expertise, so I've no reference points (although I went to the Han Bennink show at the Red Rose a few years back) - all I can say is me & Mrs S loved it.

3. (and why I'm posting in this thread, but can't seem to quote jesus' post above)... Wouldn't it be great if Spzd signed to Glass...

p.s. jesus son - Did you go to the Cafe Oto show? I see you're based in Rugby. Feel free to pm me in future and you can always hop in the car with us.

This year's haul from RSD courtesy of Probe Records in Liverpool.

The FUI remaster is really excellent. I don't know what if anything was done with the original recordings, but the pressing is free from surface noise, really powerful and very dynamic, so the quiet/loud bits are absolutely excellent. I was worried that Mr SpaceAge might simply 'turn it up to 11' and enter a weapons grade remaster into the loudness wars. It is beautifully done.

The Eno and Shields 12" is abso-feckin'-lutely awesome. Immensely powerful to the point that I've not heard my speakers produce low frequencies of that quantity and quality before without having to really crank the amps up.

I managed to pick this up for £22 on Discogs today (brand new) as well as landing Spectrum ‘Highs, Lows...’ for face value and ESG ‘Come Away With..’, again for face value.

Can’t wait to hear them! Had my original of FUI on today and it is so badly pressed. Surface noise, jumps despite the vinyl appearing clear, an infamous bad press in general?
Waited 15 years to get ‘Highs, Lows..’, feedback suggests it sounds perfect too.

All in all a good day!

This looks like it's linking to the CD version now – I excitedly checked out the other day when I saw this link and only now realized I'd inadvertently ordered the CD. :/

I bought an extra copy of the Spectrum RI – it's still sealed if anybody has an unopened copy of this they want to trade.

drool.. not jealous at all Olan. that's quite the haul

all the good reports about FUI is music to my ears, I have to say (no pun intended). on the tip off of Dave Aquarian Time I seem to have managed to order one online from Picadilly... so it's looking good.

that Eno/Shields thing sounds really good too. that's what RSD should be for.. unique stuff you can't get elsewhere.

how's the Mogwai? I was rather tempted by that. some of their best stuff on there and for some reason I do imagine it would sound good on vinyl

The Mogwai LP is OK. I have it on a double 10" which is simply excellent, but I'm not sure it is 100% kosher, so a legitimate release is nice. I really would have preferred something new. No doubt it'll be available on black vinyl next month, as will all the Spectrum, Spiritualized and SP3 RSD records I guess.

The Sigur Rós LPs are not much kop, ditto the Cure records.

I thought I already had the original version of Ten Rapid so didn't bother with the RSD version. Just double checked now and it's "Kicking A Dead Pig" and "The Government Commissions" that I've got....doh! Now, going to have to try and get my hands on this one way or another

I'm sure the promo blurb said that it was the first ever vinyl issue of Ten Rapid? Record companies never lie, surely? :)

I saw the blurb about the Ten Rapid pressing and I think it actually said, "first time on white vinyl." I questioned it myself and then decided that the label just used the fact that it's on colored vinyl to justify the statement. Pretty stupid.

Excellent! That’s where I got mine too, same price. Seems some stores charged £30+ for this too?!

Don’t appear to have any left on Discogs (where I got it). Cheapest copy is £30: https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/687056894

Keep checking ebay. They appear every now and then. Or call them. I'm sure they would rather not pay ebay fees if they could avoid it.

Keep checking discog and put it on your want list. You'll get email notifications when a new one pops up. I got one coming my way I paid £39 for and the day after I took the plunge one showed up that was only £29
Oh well, first world problems

Thanks mate. Got mine today. Lovely pressing.
Although not all that different from the plain reissue, to be honest. I did a quick a-b sorta test (I don't usually do this sorta thing), and there are differences but subtle. Bass is a little tighter on the new one and it sounds a little more balanced, but there is also a little less dynamics (noticed this during WWJ, when the noise part kicks in). But I am glad to own it. 8)

Sorry - am still really confused by this - it's on Glass Redux, but distributed by Adasam. Did anyone get to the bottom of how this works? Does it still mean that this is also sort of through Space Age / Gerald which there has been an awful lot talked about, and therefore Jason is caught up in the same predicament as Sonic? But we've also had the element mentioned about Jason and Dave Barker maybe being back together.....

Tweet from earlier today from Glass account of Dave Barker and Sonic start of this week, what it means if anything beyond both Jason and Sonic being on terms with Dave Barker I don`t know, but probably nothing.

Since Dave Barker was part of Glass Records, i'm sure he's still very much friendly with both Jason and Sonic. With both of them in London recently for shows of some kind, Dave heading along to those shows almost guarantees a photo opportunity. I understand Dave is still a big fan of both.

listened to FUI the other night, it sounds brilliant, so nice to hear it clearer and louder (sure they didn't use the BZA remaster? ;) ). the dynamics sound fine to me, particularly on Walking With Jesus and Clear Light Clear Rush. and that foil stamped cover is sexy as hell.

yeah I doubt Dave Barker having photos with Jason and Peter means anything.. although you can almost hear the rumour mill (or wish fulfilment mill) grind into action.. "whispers of Spacemen 3 reunion, and returning to their original record label!!"

My FUI RSD copy turned up yesterday. So glad. Thank you Record Collector in Sheffield, A shop I have been to a few times which makes it even cooler.
I was impatient and bought the Glass Redux CD and it indeed sounds much better than the original.
For some inexplicable reason I bought a Plain LP reissue when it came out. I must have had tons of store credit at one of my local record shops. The cover is still cool. The Plain reissue sits in an LP frame.
