Re: New LOW
I thought of you today James when I got this mail from Resident Records:-
"there are many, many artists/bands that consistently deliver for us. those that have come to help define what we think of as the beating heart of resident. those that we come back to time & time again. those that have surfed us over the highs & carried us through the lows. there is one band however, that stand out above them all. they started out long before resident was born & have been releasing albums throughout the life of the shop. they unfailingly unite derry & i. they have found their way into the hearts & souls of many a resident, past & present.
that band is the mighty, almighty….low
and on september 14th, alan, mimi & steve will return to grace our stereos with ‘double negative’."

Re: New LOW
These new songs are very deconstructed. Not sure if I like them, but props to Low for pushing hard in the direction of weirdness.
Re: New LOW

Re: New LOW
Pretty much the most essential listen in years. DAMN, this album...

This album is pretty crazy. I sorta doubt it's something that will stick with me, but it's an interesting experiment.

Re: New LOW
I've been listening to this album a lot and I have to stay it still blows me away on every listen. The distortion on 'Tempest' just absolutely floors me. Intense wall of sound just slapping you in the face.
I love it. Especially so late in their carreer. I'm so impressed.

Re: New LOW
New album coming in September
Re: New LOW
Not sure how it leaked this early but i am currently listening to forthcoming album 'Hey What'.
It's in a similar vein to Double Negative and right now i'm digging it. Songs segue into each other and there are chunks of noise and electronic quirks, with Alan & Mimi's vocals cutting through it all. Not sure how they'll reproduce it live mind you. On the previous tour i had my doubts as to how much of it was actually live. It was still a good gig though.
Ticket bought for Dublin next April

Re: New LOW
Shit. Where did you find the album? That is a worry.
Re: New LOW
Landsliding and mountainsplitting album. And so brave. Extraordinary listening trip. Makes you eager for more brave personality among other music.

Re: New LOW
Oral history of Low in the making. The working title is "I Sang the Words I Meant: A Book about Low." Same author who wrote the book about Kranky Records. Book about Low should be out next year already.
