As J once said in an interview, "I guess, with everybody using the same musical scales, you’re always going to end up hitting some of the same notes, in the same order.”

These two have always reminded me of Spacemen 3 / Spiritualized songs. Electric Prunes - Our Father Our King from the 2.36 mark, just after Amen, sounds like Walking With Jesus a bit. It might just be me though.

And this lovely song by Tim Hardin has a feeling of Take Your Time, I think.

Low - Nothing But Heart wants to be Shine A Light so badly it hurts :)

Mentioned this one before, but the main riff of Doves - Winter Hill is a dead ringer for Electric Mainline:

Be very surprised if these bands didn't have Spiritualized on the mind when recording these tunes

Primal Scream - Space Blues #2 https://youtu.be/O9W_cohvBgw

Russian Circles - Praise Be Man https://youtu.be/xkmmNlyi3c0

BRMC - Gospel Song https://youtu.be/8aZmmSpuTiI

Yo La Tengo - Nowhere Near (very Lazer Guided?) https://youtu.be/CZMxUgI8pcQ

The I Hate Rock & Roll EP is just incredible - my introduction to the J&MC no less in 1995.

The two track cassette single didn't have this so I only heard it many years later - it's like Spectrum covering 'Medication'.

Was just listening to this on Friday evening as it happens. Myself and my mate having a massive Mary Chain binge in the sun. Under laboratory conditions
God I love the Reids.

Here’s a few more. The first two were credited as either a cover or a co-write around the LGM era.

Enjoy if you haven’t already heard these before.

Those tracks are beautiful - thanks JC+FMS
Just the right side of as required soul-balm tonight.

Further with the Ike & Tina tip I'm very partial to these songs from the same amazing album.

https://youtu.be/lgHKVUVzheY

Produced by Phil Spector and Jack Nietzsche arranged the latter - but they are both incredible. The first is almost a garage rock thing while the other is a proper orchestral blues motherlode thing.

Play fucking loud.

Haven't heard heard these for a while actually and sound better than I remember.
