i was really looking forward to hearing this after seeing them on Saturday but the sound quality is poor, shame because it sounded amazing when they played it, I can hear the Silver Machine element too and Colm's propulsive drumming and the relentless guitar riff gave it a bit of a 'Revolution' feel.

apparently another new song played at a gig the other day.

also read an interview with Kevin (can't remember where now!) where it was clear that unfortunately the EP still isn't quite finished. apparently they do have a fair few songs though. so it looks to be a series of EPs- I think he just doesn't want to get bogged down in the whole pressure of making a new album.

New Song 1 (the Hawkwind one!) isn't actually one they were working on in the studio, but apparently came about through rehearsals.

YEah, that second one.... I think it was the highlight of the show for me and even now, days later, I think that was my favorite show of my life!!! They ripped a hole in space!!! It was also really great to hear the M B V songs (I think they only did New You, and Wonder 2 last tour). More than any band I know, I find their trajectory the most fascinating. The new material is weirder, more melodic and incredibly emotional than Loveless era. I'm having withdraws.

I might as well share this here. Love that second new one (and the first one, of course).

Just saw MBV in Philadelphia last night. What a brutal sonic assault!

In some ways, it reminded me why I prefer Spiritualized and bands with a bit more melody.

I feel I don't need to see them again.

It was nice to finally meet Andy Duvall from Carlton Melton in person, and catch up with a few other friends that I don't see often.
