And Nothing Hurt - physical versions

Of the ones that I'm aware of, there are the following:

CD version
Vinyl (standard version, black vinyl)
Vinyl (deluxe version with additional packaging, booklet, etc - orange vinyl)
Vinyl (indie stores only version - identical to standard, but with white vinyl)
Vinyl (Bella Union exclusive version - identical to standard, but with silver vinyl)

Any others?

I picked up a copy early doors from my lovely local bricks and mortar record store today and was surprised to find it came with a very limited white label pressing in an alternative sleeve, gratis. They had 2 but I'm not sure how many are in circulation. I think it's just the same content but I've not had a chance to listen yet.

Damn, didn't know about the BU silver version.

It's showing as sold out :(

100 made, apparently there's an extra track,

And Nothing Hurt white label with extra track (vocals by Poppy Jason's daughter) according to Discogs. Picked up this morning at Probe Records in Liverpool along with the white vinyl pressing.

Details are here: https://www.discogs.com/Spiritualized-A ... e/12491396

Nice surprise to get this as I didn't know it existed until this morning 8)

I got one of the white label 12"'s too when I collected my orange vinyl box set this morning. Haven't had a chance to play either yet but the morse code on the extra 12" reads 'And Nothing Hurt' on the front cover and 'Spiritualized' on the back cover. I knew nothing about this either so was a very nice surprise. Staff in Resident Records in Brighton said it was very limited (they only got 2 copies) and they saved me a copy as I am such a good customer (i.e. I spend a great deal of money in there  ) and that they knew I was a massive Spiritualized fan :D :D 8)

The white label thing is a 9 track LP. I’m not familiar enough with the LP to say if the tracks are different, but there is no extra track. I’m not sure the Discogs entry is correct claiming that there is an extra track..

C'mon people, think harder.

Somewhere there has been a mistake around discogs - they're refererring to SW/SH surely?

I've yet to find time to listen through but surely the nature of "test pressing" means that the vinyl is pressed in the exact same way as the rest of the actual pressings?

The track featuring his daughter wasn't a bonus track though.

Sail On Through... you can't really mistake it. The lyrics are mentioned in the song plenty of times.

Not sure if I'm happy or sad about that. Happy that I'm not missing out, but sad there's not another new tune.

Bella Union aren't the kind of label who will release a Deluxe Edition in a few months with bonus tracks to squeeze a few extra quid out of it.

There appears to be a difference in the versions of 'Sail on through' on the white label and the standard LP. I'm not sure that they are different takes, rather it appears that the white label features additional backing vocals from Poppy. I wasn't really listening for other differences in instrumentation/production.

No, I'm afraid they're exactly the same. There can't be a difference between a test pressing and a finished article. A test pressing is just that- a manufacturing trial to ensure the press has been correctly set up. If there was a difference the test would become a recall. Whoever put that on discogs is on the wind up or mistaken. And I assume resident simply tweeted based on what they read on discogs.

Could have been a test pressing for an initial run that they decided to change after hearing it though (although it sounds unlikely based on what people are saying).

Also, it would be pretty odd for Jason to have his daughter track vocals and then remove them for the official release.

Yay! Silver vinyl.

Now just need to track down a white label. 🤨

Has anyone established if the last track is different yet?

I asked Simon Raymonde about it but he hasn't got back to me yet. My ears tell me that there is a layer of additional backing vocals on 'Sail on Through' that is not on the other versions. This is not a subtle difference. I can't vouch for the instrumentation though. I'm surprised there is no official comment on it yet, from the label at least.....

I will tell you that test pressings CAN and DO have different tracks or audio mixes. It's why they are created, so the band can either sign off on the final mix/press, or request changes.

I'm not saying the SPZ *is* different, just that it *could be.*

So if anyone's feel flush, there's one available on Discogs:

 £100.

I want this, but not at that price.

Ebay has the white vinyl version rather than the white label version (which is black vinyl) I think.

No signature on the silver one here also and I would like to say that the silver version sounds way better than the orange pressing. It has much more dynamics..

Funny, that the silver pressing sounds better, it appears to have the same deadwax info as the orange version. So they should sound the same.
Having said that, I’m not to pleased with the quality of the pressing, my record distorts on the loud passages of On The Sunshine and The Prize. Anyone else have that issue?

I ordered the deluxe LP a couple of weeks ago, but it hasn't arrived yet. Just stopped by my local record store - they only had the white vinyl. Was considering picking one up, but then I thought better of it. Anyone know what the sound quality of the white vinyl is like?

I'm thinking that the second batch of Bella Union vinyl may be signed--why they released only a small amount after the first lot sold out.

i got the silver ;)
after listening to the album on spotify all these days my copy arrived. i found it on my stoop baking in the georgia sun early this afternoon. no doorbell ring from the postal carrier but it doesn't look warped. still haven't played it yet though so we'll see.

my copy isn't signed either. i had pre-ordered it but it wasn't dispatched until several days after the release date so i don't know which batch it is from. read somewhere the signed copies were limited to just 50 or so? might have read that on discogs.

beautiful, beautiful album ❤️
love how much attention jason puts into the visual part of his art.

My orange vinyl from Fat Possum sounds way better than the silver vinyl version I got from Bella Union. I definitely haven't had the distortion problems with the orange vinyl that others have had.
