Jason in Q Magazine interview

Post by spzretent »

This message was sent by Spiritualized's management and Jason specifically asked it be posted here:

Jason is going to be interviewed by Q Magazine tomorrow afternoon and has asked us to share the following with you and if you could please post it to the forum today?

“Spiritualized will be the subject of Cash For Questions in the next issue of Q. Have you got a question for Jason Pierce? Send your questions to qmail@qthemusic.com. You’ll receive £25 for each one printed in the magazine.”

I asked if he would consider revisiting Pure Phase or LICD for re-releases as he did for L+G in 2009. I'd love to hear sessions from Let it Come Down. If my question doesn't make it to Q you could always answer it here for me, Jason!

Thanks to Jason and mgt. for the heads-up!

I had a mind blank and couldn't think of a question that he hasn't been asked a hundred times before! Will read the article with interest though

Too late for this but I would have asked 'Would you consider releasing a live archive series ala Neil Young, Pixies, etc.?'

I suspect that Jason actually has very little in the vaults though. He doesn't strike me as someone that would record his gigs for later examination or posterity.

No. But he encourages it. He wants shows uploaded and shared.

Maybe not gigs, but I bet he's got tonnes of demos and alternate versions/takes. Plus a load of unreleased tracks.

didn't think any of the questions were that great to be honest.. but then I couldn't think of one myself either! you know Jason's not going to answer anything personal (which is fair enough) and all the usual music questions have already been asked to him

Found a pdf of the magazine at the following link, although you may have to go through some download screens. Decent read, some varied and some inane questions..

He is though always a lovely guy and still reminds Spacemen 3 in his interviews. Yeah, i would surely stay up and watch the live stream of Jason floating in space and singing a song. He indeed nailed it - having one of the all time best album titles ever, so i guess he does not wonder if people offer him deals going to space traveling.

I must say, I agreed with Jason on that one.. as I've got older I still like reading as much as I ever did, but 90% of what I read is non-fiction. there's so much to learn about the world, why waste time reading someone's flights of fancy? :)

Haha, that was my question in the article. I was hoping he would like 2001 - A Space Odyssey or something as brilliant and legendary as that. Well, not really

haha it was a good question.
I also share Jason's bad memory when it comes to books (and films)... sometimes I know I enjoyed something but can't remember a thing about it.. means I can read/watch it a second time, and it feels fresh though :)

Great find sunray! I just thought I'd paste this here.
So what do you want to ask the dedicated musical cosmonaut otherwise known as J Spaceman? Send your questions to audiencewith@uncut.co.uk by Monday (March 15), and Jason will answer the best ones in a future issue of Uncut.

In the Uncut interview Jason says he is an avid reader. I'd be interested to find the books he's read and that is on his reading list.

I totally agree, all that would certainly be very interesting to know!

The comedian Stewart Lee has a great mailing list, whereby each month he lets fans know about his own up and coming gigs, plus any other events he's involved in.

In addition he "arrogantly recommends" his own current reading list, as well as the music, film, TV, musical gigs and other comedy (including comedy-adjacent) events he's read/heard/seen/attended etc, plus upcoming stuff he's interested in, and/or anticipates what might be of interest to his fans.

Furthermore he does an incredibly comprehensive end of year list, highlighting all the best culture consumed over the last twelve months.

From the little information of this type Jason does disclose in interviews, I'm pretty sure most of us Spiritualized fans would be interested in him compiling and regularly sharing a full list of books, music and any other culture he's recently been enjoying (or not) - all disseminated via some simple communication method.

Sadly I suspect Jason values his privacy too much, to share all that kind of information. Nevertheless I'm confident our good selves and fellow fans would find something of this nature to be of considerable interest.

As with Stewart Lee's monthly missives, I'm always interested in and fascinated by such sharing of information - from someone with good and inherently similar tastes!
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

many, including obama and bill gates send out such things, dylan has a recommended reading section on his site

i assume j just reads cooking books
I’ve been visiting morgues and monasteries
Looking for the necessary body parts
Limbs and livers and brains and hearts
I want to bring someone to life - is what I want to do
I want to create my own version of you
