A new book by Mick Houghton, who was publicist at various times for Spiritualized, the JAMC, Echo & the Bunnymen, Julian Cope, the KLF/JAMs and others.
The subtitle for the book is Hits, Myths, Break-Ups and Breakdowns in the Record Business 1978-98. I don't think there's a huge amount in it about Spiritualized, although I've only read the introduction so far and it mentions the world trade centre show in 98.

Looks like it could be a great read. Just pre-ordered. Thanks for the heads up!
Re: Fried & Justified
It is available as a Kindle download so I finished reading it the other day. Poor old Mick Houghton was doing PR for Echo and the Bunnymen, Julian Cope/Teardrop Explodes and Bill Drummond/KLF at the same time (along with a chunk of the Creation roster among others). Kind of mad way to earn a living…The book is a bit superficial but is very entertaining and quite informative.

There's a podcast here which interviews Mick Houghton, I found it quite enjoyable.
Only one mention of Jason, near the end. he says that Jason was actually one of the nicest people to work with. the hosts go a bit quiet, almost like they have never heard of Spiritualized before..

Houghton's book opens up with an anecdote about Spiritualized circa LAGWAFIS era. His admiration for Jason's approach to music, the music business and particularly interviews is very clear.angelsighs wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:49 am There's a podcast here which interviews Mick Houghton, I found it quite enjoyable.

Thanks, that's nice to hear. I may well check out this book (or alternatively, read the opening pages in Waterstones..)olan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 9:28 amHoughton's book opens up with an anecdote about Spiritualized circa LAGWAFIS era. that's weird. the link to listen on the page seems to have disappeared. it might be worth having a look back through Itunes (or wherever else you get your podcasts) and it should be theresunray wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 10:28 amIs this no longer available or am i completely missing something?angelsighs wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:49 am There's a podcast here which interviews Mick Houghton, I found it quite enjoyable.
