new Aliens?

Post by Shinesalight »

Maybe some new Aliens material on the way or live shows. They've set up a new Twitter account and there's been a bit of activity on their FB page. I do hope so as never got to see them live first time around.

NO FUCKING WAY!!!!! :D

Only yesterday I was watching a couple of live clips on Youtube and shed a tear. Such is the feeling of loss at their absence and the depth of my burning desire for this band to return.

Just pre-ordered the new Aliens live album "Live on the Moon". Out on the 29th Nov:

https://the-aliens.bandcamp.com/album/l ... the-moon-2

The blurb says "The Aliens state that this live album clears the way for release of new material." Nice one, can't wait!!

This is good news, to say the feckin' least. I've been listening to the FLACs regularly since they became available. It is great stuff.

Just tying up cover artwork at the moment and finalising the look of the vinyl then hopefully everything can get signed off pre-Xmas for an early Spring release. Fingers crossed it all works out.

Well, I'm pleased to say that the pre-order for the upcoming double vinyl LP of the Aliens' 'Live On the Moon' is now available to pre-order over on the Drone Rock Records website:-

https://dronerockrecords.com/shop/live-on-the-moon/

The records are due back from the pressing plant mid-to-late February and its a limited run of just 300 copies (with 60 of these going to Gordon/the band). I've just emailed my mailing-list subscribers (just over 900 customers) and it will be interesting to see how this album goes down with them as it is a bit different to what they are used to. Anyway, hopefully its of interest to a few of you on here.

Who ever would have thought that I'd be releasing an album by the Aliens  8) :D

It is, but i wonder is Neil ELBL cool with that for the forthcoming Live In Brixton album?

He seemed to take umbrage with people who bought his records having the temerity to look for a download too. Expected them to shell out for a digital copy on top of their vinyl purchase

I have no time whatsoever for Neil. Suffice to say that I would be happy to get the record if I bought it from him (which I will never, ever do again) and wouldn't expect a download to work. Thankfully, there will be none of that nonsense from Adam.

Yes it's well put together but it's shite unfortunately.

Sounds like an AFX fan attempting a mash-up of Daft Punk and EDM.

Yeah I’m not sure about that new tune but it certainly sound a better with the volume up. Had this from their manager today:-

“Hi Adam

The single is quite electronic which Gordon did deliberately. There's going to be a couple of eps before doing an album and band will be incorporated fairly soon to bring them back to more psych / folktronica standards.”

Would be great if they did come back as a band and did some live shows.

Not been on here for ages, then when I finally reappear I thought I'd missed out on that Aliens live LP!

But just a heads-up that what must be the last remaining copies are on the Aliens' Bandcamp page...

Must have a listen to the new song. Gordon Anderson can do no wrong in my eyes, so the reactions here are interesting to say the least 8)

To be fair though, I saw a link to this new recording via Reddit before yesterday.

I just didn’t get a chance to play it in the right mood. To me, it’s sounds like a completely bonkers full on thing like ‘Lovesexy’: which similarly took a while to get right to it / given the endless layers

I do like that sudden piece of intense Beta style guitar strumming in the L though half way through though.

I'm enjoying Back of Beyond a whole lot more than Electronville, which i do not like at all. I can only conclude that Electronville was written as a riposte to Brexit given the amount of Euro-cheese contained within its grooves.

Anyone buy the RSD release and get the extra tracks on the download?

Seriously - what's that all about?! I kept thinking it had finished and then another tune would gently emerge from the silence. And then another, and another after that. It's very weird indeed!

I also played The Aliens' Luna for the first time in ages last night. This just gets better with age and made me realise what a total triumph it is from start to finish. Utter genius, so clever and captivating, and on a level most bands can only dream of. Made me smile quite a bit.

I must admit I haven't bought any Aliens releases since the live album. I haven't been that keen on the newer stuff. Does the RSD release sound more like the first two albums? Guess I should give them another go!

Er, a definite no to that although one of the tracks has something from an earlier album in the background. I found this release a little confusing.

I bought the RSD thing on Bandcamp and got a download with 12 tracks on it - that the same as you?

First impression is that it's just a curio. Not played the vinyl yet so can't compare the download to it...

I mentioned this to Mark Runcible yesterday - if you’re into The Lone Pigeon (aka Gordon Anderson) you should check out this compilation/album on Spotify called Time Capsule 001-010.

Amusingly - it’s described as an EP. An EP that lasts 6 and a half hours and contains 159 tracks… 😳

It’s not all gold. But some incredible stuff there. From the brief play of a few songs…

Still available to buy too: https://www.dominomusic.com/releases/lo ... 10/box-set

I have this version, and also a hand made, hand artworked version Gordon did for me before the Domino version came out.

I am, as is probably now clear, a massive fan. I have quite a few live recordings too, some of them I did back in my bootlegging days...
