RIP Neal Casal

Post by runcible »

I just read the shocking news that Chris Robinson Brotherhood's guitarist Neal Casal has died, aged just 50.

This is pretty awful to hear anyway as he was so young, but a really nice guy by all accounts, a very good photographer and one hell of a guitar player too.

So sad.

I'm still trying to take this in. He played in so many wonderful bands i have loved from over the years - Beachwood Sparks, The Tyde, CRB and Gospelbeach to name but a few. Only recently heard a new Gospelbeach track and just knew it was him soloing all over it.

Wonderful, distinctive guitar player. Hope he got the peace he was after.

RIP Neal...

Gospelbeach - Bad Habits

Neal Casal - New Country (Beachwood Sparks cover)

The Tyde - Situations

Very sad news indeed. Such a wonderful musician. Love his solo work, especially Basement Dreams, his work with Ryan Adams and the Cardinals and Hazy Malaze: their first album is a lot of fun, upbeat groovy rock music, with more than a sniff of The Meters. He will be missed.
