Growing up Stateside Van Halen was the epitome of american hard rock during it's time. Guitar virtuoso.

I was never much of a metal fan but when I was 15/16 that first Van Halen album had a massive impact on me & curiously I still play it every now and then, just as I am this morning. I'd never heard guitar being played like that before. But then no one had. So I was pretty depressed to hear the news of Eddie's passing. I saw them once - the original line up too - at a Monsters of Rock thing at Donington that my metal-loving mates dragged me along to in 1984. Sad news...
