Electronic Sound magazine with Spiritualized 7"

Post by Aquarian-Time »

I subscribe to electronic sound mag which is quite superb and you get a free limited 7" each month. Cover star this month is Jason and the 7" is a version on both sides are versions of the Phase tones for dj's

I would act fast as these tend to sell out pretty swiftly

last month it was Can, and a free 7"

A great publication

Yes that's correct mate. Just pay as you go essentially. Magazine is available from a few record stores in uk but minus the 7"

Once they go up in the magazine's website shop you can usually buy the magazine and 7" bundle on its own, with no need to subscribe (I've done this before). The good ones do sell out quickly though.

I subscribe too and this was a real surprise when I opened it! Not sure I've seen the photo on the sleeve of the 7" before.

Does the subscription come with the records? Where did you subscribe from?

Yes, they have two subscription types available on their website, with and without the record (sometimes it's a CD). I've been a subscriber for over two years now, it's a really good magazine, excellent content, and the records are often exclusive or hard to find tracks.

I think the chance to get this with the 7" has passed - the only option to buy this issue on their website is for the magazine only, and the subscription now starts from the next issue. Norman Records had some yesterday, but they were snapped up very quickly. Might be an outside chance from other record shops.

that's the way of these things. it is a collectors edition now so will cost more. personally i think record stores should sell things at a fair price so everyone can afford them but then they'd have to lose money and collectors would be less smug!

Not quite THAT quickly.
I understand the collectibility thing but two days after it came out and sold out?
Seems this ebay seller buys things, jacks the prices way up and tries to resell them.
Kinda shitty in my opinion.

i agree completely with you. it was the same with the white and glow in the dark LGM/PP preorders. i don't like it but that's how it always seems to go

Managed to get hold of this. Nice mag and interview with Jason. Signed up for the subscription on Wednesday (only option i could find) and it arrived on Saturday. Dunno why this was not picked up sooner. I saw it and thought it would have been long gone, but it soon caught fire on social media and i saw a lot of people struggle to get it.

I didn't get the 7" (thinking about it, I know I'd never play it!) but did have a read of the interview. thought it was funny that Jason "doesn't' do Zoom interviews!" I can empathise :)

nothing majorly new really. good magazine though, great graphic design and seems to cover interesting artists.

so apparently LICD is scheduled for October which means Ladies & gents must be August. an announcement soon?
we'll have to see if that plays out though, with all the pressing plant delays we are hearing about at the moment. I reckon that's why Pure Phase was delayed slightly.

there's also consideration on continuing to reissue the other Spiritualized records. although I guess they have been more widely available on vinyl already. and lesser loved albums like Amazing Grace may be a harder sell.

yeah, i got it but then thought of all of the limited edition spz stuff i have gotten over the years and ended up giving away or throwing in the bin if i couldn't be arsed to find a home for them. looking on ebay the stuff i chucked is now worth hundreds!

for me, these kind of buys are momentary excitements followed by 'meh'.

i guess i'll stick the 7" in a cupboard and forget about it. who knows, it may be coming to a landfill near you

i still have my LAG black 12 pill box with my name on the prescription. that still excites me. other than that, i really need to think before i buy these things!

Yeah 7" in particular seem something that's more about collecting rather than actually playing. Maybe I'm lazy but I can't see myself putting a record on then 3 minutes later getting up to change it.

Makes me think of this :)

However at least with vinyl these days you know it's going to hold or increase it's value. CDs pretty much half in value once you take the cellophane off.
