influences on jasons sound

Post by anorthernsoul »

having been without proper internet access for a while, i've been writing down the names of things to investigate, listen to and buy when i get back on track. anyway, i remember scribbling down the name of someone, a few months ago, that a board member namechecked as a big influence on the ladies and gentlemen string sound. perhaps a woman singer in the same vain as the stax crew ...

Oh - sorry northernsoul, that might have been me. If it was I was referring to Lorraine Ellison, whose biggest hit was a tune called "Stay With Me" which is very clearly an influence on Jason's tune of the same name. Not really a staxy performer, her credentials are something like a more upmarket philly sound - hell, it even vaguely resembles Patula Clark. Well, regardless, it's great listening. Enjoy!
