Go Nick! make that stooges record you always wanted to.
It does sound like he´s gotten at least one of his balls back. Doctors can do anything these days.

From an album that I think deserves a lot more recognition than it ever got. Definitely in my top three of all time. Think (maybe) Cocteau Twins meets Pure Phase spz. Or something like that.

ok then George Costanza/moop ("it´s moor, you #¤§%£!") but you didn´t give us rules so I borrowed my girlfriends guitar: extremely lo-fi, unmixed and unarranged noises..moop wrote: no one seemed to acknowledge my last suggestion (bastards!!)

Here´s the real response, no real instruments.. eeh except for the drum loop sampled from milesdavis darkmagus album:
http://download.yousendit.com/0ED61BA34997A859
to be honest i'm not sure how i feel about being compared to george castanza (at least i'm not jerry, i guess...)
am liking the tune..nice drifty/wobbly stuff.. i think this calls for a NEW THREAD! waddaya reckon? "homemade songs"..? i often think they're more interesting than studio recordings anyway..
yeaaaaaah!

somehow i got distracted before checking out the 'real response'...
great choice of sample to use in the first place, and appropriately dark synth sounds layered over the top... it works really well!
i kinda did something similar once using a freddy robinson sample, except mine was more straightforward and happy sounding - kinda 'casino versus japan' type stuff... will upload at some point if you like.
all in all, great stuff.. - just wondering what software/plugins you used to make it

drum loop: recycle --> dr. rex loop player (a Reason device)
planet caravan/verve-ish noises: an extremely simple acidhouse oscillator from the mid 90:s called "d-lusion Rubberduck".. prgrammed the bass line for planet caravan and removed/added/doubled some notes.
minor touching of the filter knobs in that program and then the same procedure as with the drum loop.. then from inside Reason:
Malström graintable synthesizer, DDL-1 digital delay line, RV-7 digital reverb and D-11 foldback distortion.
The first one with the star trek borg queen:
guitars recorded directly into the soundcard to cubase and messed around with in soundforge (right channel reversed etc)
+ a software drum machine sequencer 10years+ old that doesn´t deserve a mention cause it sounds like shit..

4 of their very fine A&M albums are currently in print, spread across 2 CD's. I greatly recommend.

Bonkers girl-group The Tammys sing about their favourite dance, the Egyptian Shumba. They scream a lot as well.

P.S. that Sandpipers song is great. Cleverly avoids (just) being a horribly mawkish hippie song

Some Banke love, to balance out the "Forever Changes" fixation in these parts.
If anyone reckons the 2nd and 3rd Love LP's to be the apotheosis of ornately fashioned (bar*que) pop, but hasn't yet encountered the uplift and angst of Mike Brown's d'agilita odes to teen romance's manic depressive carousel-ride -- cast your ears to the opposite coast and dig these (couldn't choose just one).

tough one, but i'd say it's gotta be either rubber soul or sgt p..
rubber soul was the first album i ever owned in fact... recorded off my dad's vinyl... what a tape that was (except that it had beatles for sale on the other side ) euurgh!
sgt p for its general brilliance... except for 'when i'm 64' which is doesn't fit with the rest of the album and is generally rubbish.
revolver i always thought was great too but quite overrated by a lot of people..
what's with all the questions anyway!?

yeah too many good floyd boots available..
the bbc top gear sessions 68-69 are a must in my opinion.
syd barrett era shows however are all of very low quality - fun to have but hardly listenable..
a whole bunch of duplicates on those vu torrents btw
for example both have uncleaned versions of the demo for "I found a reason" that is officially available on "fully loaded".. love that version.
so not much stuff here if you have the official box and deluxe releases.
and early singles; the primitives sound like the same band as the roughnecks - same annoying background screams and whooo´s
in the pretty unlikely event that someone who´s interested haven´t heard
Why dont you smile with All night workers:

edit: both torrents will be removed due to the official material

Omer Ihsas : llbat Bahari (Packet of Gold Leaf Navy Cut)
"Written by Zakariya Munduruth and performed by Omer Ihsas from Nyala, Darfur. Recorded by Peter Verney in Camden, London, June 2005."
http://www.yousendit.com/download/MLnDQaxXp3l5TA%3D%3D
"Solid Earth is a collective of artists, musicians, technicians and creatives who have come together on a voluntary basis to organise events to raise money for various causes, the first of which is the crisis in Darfur.
Through these events, and this CD, we hope to forge a strong union between different groups in the community and a feeling of solidarity in raising money for these important causes.
The cause:
Close to two years after the world began to notice the emergency unfolding in Sudan's western region of Darfur, little has changed to improve the lives of the people there. Despite reasurring statements to the contrary, the situation is not stabilizing, and the need for humanitarian assistance continues to grow as the conflict goes on. Hundreds of thousands of people are still living in displacement camps, recieving just enough assistance to keep them alive.
Not only do they struggle with physical ailments but many suffer from mental trauma related to both the violence that drove them to these camps and the uncertainty that keeps them there.
By mid 2005 more than two million people had been displaced by the ongoing violence plaguing the region. This number includes more than 200,000 people who have fled to neighbouring Chad.
...(Medicins Sans Frontieres, December 2005.)"
I'm sure you know the situation's got alot worse since then. This is only six quid and the money goes direct to MSF. It'd make an excellent last minute Xmas prezzy...

and the turkish one (selda, erkin koray...)
latin american (regardless of the ace music, also los dug dugs - is worth the price alone just for having a song called "Betty Boom-Little Monster-Doggie and Peggie at the Witches Castle" by 'St Thomas Pepper Smelter' - Best Song Name and Name of Artist Ever.
just going to get this now - I know where it is.
not so keen on the african one
I think there are eight of them all together, all with some bunnygirl on the covers.

Curt Boettcher's demo for "It's A Sad World", a tune from the long-shelved Ballroom album.

Y'all need to hear this. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?a ... 3679A040C9
It's a sad old world, but we all have to live here
Different people of the same human kind
And I wonder at the beauty of all nature - that the sadness isn't mostly in the mind?
It's our own sad fault if we can't find some love here
When our lonely hearts have so much love to give
And I wonder why the loneliness keeps growing, when we need each others' warmth and love to live
It's so sad - yes, it's sad
Too bad, too bad
Yet here comes the sun, a new day's begun
It's the new day's world, and we still have to live here
Different people of the same human kind
And I'm thinking that the beauty of some new day
May just come and take the sadness from the mind
Then it won't be so sad, it won't be so sad
Here comes the sun...

I'm not too sure about that, but i like it. Hope it don't killl me. Hey, i think i prefer that to the panda stuff to be honest but some of that is good too.
Last night at the MA gig there were (i think) 2 guys at the start doing a DJ Set, some of the stuff they that they played was sublime, awesome too. I think this is what they are called, Checkpoint 303 (website here http://checkpoint303.free.fr/index_main.html ), some very good links on there too. I think it was Checkpoint 303 that DJ'd anyway.

Klaus is in fact a far more seminal figure than his reputation may suggest - although him tackling 'Ob la di...' sounds almost too good to be true! Gotta check that out...
Although I bet a few of his piano lines have been sampled on the sly over the years.
