The singles might be out of print, but the albums aren't. Sorry Dr, I'm not having a shot at you. The albums are often on 2 for £10 at HMV so the back catalogue can't be worth much. Blogs like that give me the shits. People need to earn a living FFS.....

I think I've got a promo of the Sweet Talk CD single - (the one with the two phials of blood on the cover). Not sure what tracks are on it as I just filed it away without playing it when I got it.

I'll have a look tonight.
It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

Rameses, that would be outstanding.

From what I understand, the Sweet Talk/You Lie You Cheat single was released in promo form with an edit of Sweet Talk and the album version of YLYC. But despite making a video and sending out these promos, the label nixed it cos A&E didn't sell well/Jason was leaving the label or something.

Cheers for pointing that out - bought one, will summarily add to the list :)

Hopefully by the time that gets here, some kind soul will be able to ascertain if the bonus track 'True Love' is different, and upload it, and then we'll have a nice lot of SHSL era oddities along with the live version of 'Heading For The Top' that should be able to be captured from tonights NPR show.

Does anyone out there have the original 7 discs? I'd appreciate it if someone could provide the missing tracks for me to complete the initial 7 discs worth sio i can get the links to them shared. Tracks i'm missing are all from disc 7 and are as follows:

7. Shine a light (live) 6:43

10. The individual (live) 2:32

11. Nothing Hurts (live) 5:41 (Barrowlands, Glasgow, 15 March 1998)

12. Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space (live) 5:11 (Flux Festival, Queen's Hall, Edinburgh, 14 Aug 1998)

Tracks 7 and 10 are from the German Abbey Road EP apparently. Anyone able to provide these tracks?

Can anyone confirm or deny that the Sweet Talk single has a shorter edit? Both ones I have been sent are the same as the album edit. If if I don't need to track that down, I'll get compiling - I've been waiting to find everything, and it's pretty much all there for me except this.

I can't help with Nothing Hurts, Laz, but consider this a bump so someone might see it!

Sweet Talk (Single Edit) is now residing in my Dropbox folder (same link as before). It is 3.17 long.

What are we missing, is it just True Love from the Japanese release of SHSL?

When the original version came out, some kind soul put up some handmade sleeves up on here with a link (I believe to Megaupload). Given that this is now unavailable, does anyone still have them, or designing any new ones?

Anyone after anything else for the discs by the way?

Here they are:

"True Love Will Find You in the End (Outtake)"
"Huh? (Outro)"
"Hey Jane (Radio Edit"

TLWFYITE is utterly beautiful. A SHSL version of the song.
The Outro is another instrumental clip from "Life is a Problem."

I concur, its stunning. and at the risk of flogging a dead horse, it's got much better mastering than my copy of SHSL :)
I like the way he has stripped it back to just organ and strings. lovely.

I have that, thank you. If someone could upload the Glastonbury 2004 set, I think I could use a track - Would like an AG track and an oldie to stick in the tracklisting.

I'm sorry for the wait folks, this week has been hectic and I have friends staying over this weekend - first time I've been on the computer properly in a while! It's looking more like Monday now.

What I'll do is scan the promo mix (Cheers, toomilk!) with keen ears and ascertain how many tracks are significantly different as to warrant inclusion, and then I can set off.

At a quick glance...Little Girl, I Am What I Am, and Mary are the only three that are longer in length. I Am What I Am is a totally different mix. Hadn't had time to really listen to the whole thing but thanks toomilk for posting this.

Firstly is anyone after anything else - if so PM me with yr email and I'll do my best to oblige.

Secondly, how do these 7 CDs of Real Complete Works differ from the original set - are they the original songs beefed up in terms of quality.

Thirdly, regarding the new tracks that people have been posting, are these going towards the next volume of RCW?

RE: The promo mix...

The following are unique.

Hey Jane - And not just for the 'Huh?', there is more dissonance/less choir during part two

Little Girl - No guitar solo, longer fade

Get What You Deserve - I hear more skronk at times, but would appreciate someone backing me up

Freedom - More 'epic', more singers, strings, horns, etc. He's said as much, too

I Am What I Am - Seems cleaner/less raucous, guitars pushed down.... It is also longer/doesn't crossfade into Mary.

Mary - Longer. Did he make edits in certain sections? I was expecting riffs in the fade to come at a certain point and then they appeared later. Drums also sound less dry. And the very end. Which is cool.

So Long You Pretty Thing - Birds seem to chirp/Poppy laughs louder, although I don't think her vocal itself is higher in the mix. Think the organ is turned down a little, but it is still prominent instrument on first verse. Guitar chords (not leads) and banjo also seem louder.
In fade, more percussion, think horns come in later/are quieter. J's vocals feel different too. Choir quieter. Guitars are mixed differently too, and fade itself is different.

So unless someone can tell me Life is A Problem, Too Late, and Heading For The Top are different, I'll just use these, the bonus tracks and a few live tracks for the SHSL.

I adore 'I am what I am' but I think it should have been pushed even further like J did with 'These Blues'. I would happily listen to 10 minutes of horns etc.

Thanks for the promo upload!

No, I just ripped it into iTunes and I guess my settings for it are to rip them as m4as.

Sorry if I'm being daft about this, but how do these differ from the original 7 discs? Is the sound quality improved/some of the vinyl rips beefed up etc??

i simply just ripped my original 7 discs for the uploads. Nothing added or amended to improve quality. I just thought i'd offer them up since people were asking for them.

It's weird seeing that tracklist that I typed years ago still running around on the internet. This collection was put together long before The Complete Works, so I never think of it as The Real Complete Works. I think everything was presented chronologically, and grouped by the era. And it's not really complete, it's missing some single edits which didn't seem important. Unofficially released live tracks were always tacked onto the end. There were also no remixes that Jason did for other bands. I think it's good to compile this things, good job on getting this together! I've lapsed on hunting down everything Jason has done in the past few years, so this will have some surprises for me.

When I look at the tracks I'm compelled to put all the other bands remix projects together on one disc, all of the Spiritualized studio b-sides/outtakes on one disc, and the acoustic mainlines tracks on another. I guess it doesn't really matter because anybody can make their own playlist. But as it is the listening experience looks schizophrenic. Not that the original set wasn't. And to do it right, when we make our playlist we integrate stuff from The Complete Works vol. 2 into the Real Complete Works vol. 2. Heh!

Thanks for sharing the music! Can't wait to hear True Love Will Find You....

I was thinking of doing that with the remixes, especially since you did not put them in the main 'timeline'. Would a remix addendum suit everyone? Acoustic Mainlines definitely gets it's own disc from me, seeing as it was about a year in the band's history. Absolute chronology would mean the 2008 KCRW Session isn't on that disc, mind....

And am also not looking to double the Complete Works, as they are easily available. But that is a factor...

As you can see, I am going through severe chronology headaches

As for what I have managed to figure out, the SHSL disc will look something like....

1. Silent Night (Alt Advent)
2. Heading For The Top (Live At Royal The Albert Hall)
3. Good Times (Live At The Royal Albert Hall)
4. Hey Jane (Single Edit)
5. Mary (BBC Session)
6. Hey Jane (Promo Mix)
7. Little Girl (Promo Mix
8.Freedom (Promo Mix)
9. I Am What I Am (Promo Mix)
10. Mary (Promo Mix)
11. So Long, You Pretty Thing (Promo Mix)
12. True Love Will Find You In The End (Outtake)
13. Huh? (Outro)
14. Hey Jane (Live on Letterman)

one of the problems with complete works (if there is one) is that i rarely listen to it as i rarely wish to listen to 4/5 versions of the same song back to back. it's a fantastic source of reference and listening a couple of times is a real treat but personally i then break it up into what will fit onto one disc that i wish to listen to at the time
“You're not Dostoevsky,' said the citizeness

'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

Have you checked out Discogs? It's got a lot of info regarding release dates and stuff, it might help you as far as chronology of releases goes. At the time, I relied on Chris Barrus's site to figure out what was out there. I don't know if it is still around, much less maintained.....

No matter what, it won't be a smooth listening experience, it will be more of a resource. Still, other bands remixes seems like a seperate thing. Consequentially, remixes of Spiritualized don't make for a proper listening experience either. The Death In Vegas, Chemical Brothers, and 2 Lone Swordsmen remixes all seemed like a separate thing as well but were included in the original compilation.

I made some artwork for these that I was very pleased with, but I don't have a digital copy. I copied it from optical art books and literally cut and pasted and made black and white copies. I made a lot of these sets to give to friends, and I sold one set on Ebay before being rightfully busted for attempting to profit wrongly. I'm about to go out of the country, but at some point I'll see if I can find the original artwork that I made.
