Who doesnt love the gun club! Saw them at a tiny club in Ann arbor mich. on my 18th b-day. Used to have every single they made. Most likely still sitting in my mothers basement. GooD God they have infuluenced soooo many bands. Soledad bros. always incorp. a cover of a gun club song in their sets. Does anyone remember the london band Gallon Drunk mid 80s they so much reminded me of goofy version of the gun club. If you are not familiar with the gun club you are missing an important link in your musical understanding. "Gunna get me a gun just as long as my arm...."

So, where to begin with Gun Club. I've obviously seen them namechecked by Sonic and Jason over the years.

What should I check out?

start with the obvious (((FIRE OF LOVE))) then ---if you like that--- get MIAMI,,,,,,,then on from there - there's lots of stuff - DEATH PARTY (essential), RAMBLIN' JEFFREY LEE (very essential), some great JLP cowrites with Mark Lanegan on his brilliant FIELD SONGS LP
much more besides,,,,,,,,,,,,,,including a plethora of live Gun Club releases (only some of which i've heard) - maybe pgtips can fling us a couple recommendations beyond what i've just mentioned

bazza, you're forgetting 'the las vegas story' and the live album 'dance kalinda boom' and since you're checking things out, why don't you try a dutch band from the 80's called 'Gore'. They did excellent instrumental blow out guitar heaviness
bye for now

Which album is Jack On Fire from?

Just remembered I've got Mother Juno tucked away somewhere, must dust that off and have a listen.

...better than most other records probably.

For The Love Of Ivy is a personal favourite.

But is this album available on CD? Or is it really vinyl only? And punk-rock reasons aside, why?

Thanks for that :?: ...although noticably those are imports, so the question remains, why no general re-release of 'Fire Of Love', the rest were reissued recently...

And Bazza...still finding the keyboard difficult after all those years of crayons?
