Spread Your Wings / Feel like goin' home

Post by good times »

I got some spiritualized live stuff in my archive.

but im curious about something.

in all gigs i have, the setlists don't include these two wonderful track. did they ever played them live? especially spread your wings?

they are the highlights of PP and i didn't get why they didn't played.

also, all of my thoughts is the third track i didn't listened live

no way ...

i was nagging people on here the other week to see if anyone could upload a live version of all of my thoughts ... if anyone could put that on yousendit or something i'd be eternally grateful. or grateful for a while.

That would be great. Same here on the torrent business. All seems very technical to me.

i'm sure i've heard it live, we went through this in the argument but i think someone proved me wrong.

heres a trivial fact for spiritualized completists. there have in fact been two different mixes of spread your wings released. one was released prior to the release of purephase

but where was it? and what was it called?

I'm almost certain that when I saw Spiritualized at the Academy in Manchester in the spring of 1998, they started off with Spread Your Wings, before it degenerated into the white noise that goes into Shine A Light-Born Never Asked-Electric Mainline. My first Spiritualized gig, ruined by the need to get a train home and having to leave during I Think I'm In Love. I was so close to crying...

That sounds painful. I bet you looked like a right miserable sod on that train home!

Free tape given away with Select magazine, called "Spread Your Wings (Pure Phase)". I have it somewhere. Not sure it was prior to PP though, but it might well have been for all I know.

Does anyone have this as an mp3 they could upload somewhere? It's about the only Spz release I don't have as an mp3. I used to have the cassette, and I did encode it at some stage (and uploaded it to Chris Barrus' ftp server, years ago), but I no longer have it. Many thanks in advance if anyone can help.

It's not live. I think it's a different mix? Maybe? Maybe not.

It's a different mix. I've not listened to it for ages, but I think the Pure Phase tone is more promenant, and I think some of the noises from Feel like going home are laid over it. Can't really remember for sure though.

I listened to it yesterday. If it is a different mix then it's barely distinguishable. I can send it to anyone who wants it. I've got it on the Real Complete Works CDs.

its a different mix, but only for the amended electronic noises from feel like going home are laid at the front, and the pure phase tone is more prominent.

i have it on tape at home also, i'll dig it out when i go back to rugby to see my parents.
