Seems like this tour they're going to be playing two sets. The first a load of old favourites, then for the second set, they're playing Nowhere in it's entirety. The CD version with the other three tracks from the "Fall EP" too, not the vinyl one, so they'll close with the song "Nowhere". Looking forward to it.

The Ride listening event was great last night.
really good to hear the album over that sound system. Loz's drums sounded even huger than usual. they turned the lights down and showed some basic projections. the album seemed over so quick!

Q&A was also great- although Mark wasn't there as he was under the weather. Steve spoke quite a lot which is good as you don't usually hear much from him. no great revelations but it was interesting and the band were very laid back and also mingled in the bar.

trying to think of any tidbits..
they only announced that they are doing this full Nowhere set once they had rehearsed the songs enough to be confident they can do them justice.

Someone asked about Carnival of Light songs on this tour. they have rehearsed From Time For Time, but not played it yet. apparently the songs on that album are a bit harder to play.

seemed to be disagreement about whether the title and sleeve for Nowhere came before the songs were written, or not!

they have no intention on splitting up and the reunion looks to be an open ended thing. still not sure whether they are going to do any new material.

Indeed it was a an amazing evening. Angelsighs — the cover picture was already chosen before recording. Can't really add more.

I know, I couldn't quite believe it when a friend gave me a heads-up on this. Just posted something about it in the Gigs section. Fingers crossed Mrs Shines can bag a couple on Friday morning

nice one Ads! here's hoping Mrs Shines pulls through for you.

was thinking about trying to make it myself but it's not looking possible.

I reckon they will be adding more different songs to the setlist.

Spoke to Andy the other week at the Spectres gig and he said they are working on a new album. Might even hear new songs.

well done Shines & Modlab!

i'm still debating it, as I don't think it's quite sold out yet. it just that I've got a lot of time off work around that time already.. plus the expense of a stayover in Brighton.. tricky one.

I think KVB have played one of the psych fests too. I've never managed to see them I don't think. I had a quick listen and they sounded pretty good. droney synths and kinda moody

First one passed most of us by, fairly insipid Andy Bell song, didn't really go anywhere. 2nd one was quite rocky, a bit obvious, shouty call to arms chorus sounded like a poor mans Black Nite Crash in my opinion. 3rd one was excellent, reminded me of second album material, decent chorus and good guitar hook throughout, went off on one at the end and the crowd clearly lapped this one up.
We were at 2nd night (MODLAB, shines etc), volume was so quiet at the start, about 5 songs on it finally started to ramp up and the gig flew quite nicely from this point on. Enjoyable evening for sure

Yeah, great gig and top night out all round. Great to catch up with Mr and Mrs Modlab and always a laugh when I hook up with Aquarian-time. As mentioned previously, the sound didn't seem to get cranked up till about 5 songs in which is a shame given the opening salvo was Leave Them All Behind, Like A Daydream and Seagull 8) I could certainly take or leave the first 2 of the 3 new songs but the third one was much, much better. Probably the smallest venue I've ever seen Ride in the 10-15 times I've seen them over the years. Mark looked like someone who's numbers had finally come up on the lottery....he's probably been wanting this reunion for years I reckon.

I was really ill so unfortunately couldn't make this.. :( I'm jealous you got to hear brand new songs! to be honest previously I was thinking that all the hype of new songs was them just talking the talk... to youtube!!

I'd agree that cranking the volume up to a decent level is what makes a really good Ride gig. the problem with the Birmingham show last year was that the sound was weedy and thin. it didn't suit them at all.
