Spiritualized poster

Post by Fuzzhead »

First time I've seen this gig poster:

http://www.pushposters.co.uk/cgi/pcart/ ... RITUALIZED

Pretty nice, but I can't help thinking of Polo Mints when I look at it.

i like the ice lolly rocket below it

stop your crying, here's an icelolly
'raging and weeping are left on the early road
now each in his holy hill
the glittering and hurting days are alomst done
then let us compare mythologies
i have learned my elaborate lie
of soaring crosses and poisened thorns'

Nice. St. Andrews were never known for doing nice posters like that. And that is the one Detroit Spiritualized gig I missed due to living in Chicago at the time.

Awesome Alan, any way of getting a copy? I was at that show and it was the 2nd best Spz show I've been to, the 1st being the Rollercoaster Tour with the JAMC and Curve.

I can burn one. I'm surprised these aren't all over the torrent sites since there were actual hard copies of these sold.

I had the generic Soul Kiss RCA/BMG promo poster. It wasn't big but it was nice. It got lost?... during a move sometime ago. Would love to see the large promo poster for L&G with Kate on it again. Can't find an image of it anywhere on the web.

With today's announcement it's a question as to whether spacemanrich's poster is 3 years too late or 11 years too early?

I have an original 30in by 21in poster of the Feel So Sad cover in full colour with tour dates at the bottom of it. My girlfriend was going to get it framed for me for Christmas but then the Screamadelica boxset made an appearance and that jumped to #1 on my wishlist.

Also have a Spacemen 3 Transparent Radiation poster wating to be housed in a frame too.

That Feel So Sad is a great poster - got one upstairs but not framed, just blu-tac'd. Has the 2 ICA dates on the tour list at the bottom - 2 of the greatest Spz gigs ever played.

Got the T Rad poster in a neat frame though - that's a must!

ooh I imagine that Feel So Sad would make a great poster. Can you post a picture?

I did a bit of a random search for posters the other day, and found some interesting stuff:

This, which I bought http://www.amazon.com/Spiritualized-Han ... 768&sr=8-6
and this which I didn't http://www.amazon.com/Spiritualized-Pos ... 768&sr=8-5

Then I found some guy on ebay with a whole section re-printed Spritualized and Sapcemen 3 posters.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Before-Endeavo ... 1645648017

I had to buy the recurring one and the Run / I want you one.

The set of four I bought off spzretent a few years ago must be as close to being the rarest Spiritulalized posters as you can get.

Yes. Those sets were very limited and even though they are UK "Fly" posters more of them wound up over here.
The rarest one I have, and the one Burningwheel is referring to, is the Lazer Guided Melodies UK 60 x 40 red poster. And also the small LGM UK promo poster which is blue and framed.

I'm not entirely sure but I think a previous conversation mentioned only five sets. I had three from four (minus the Jason one and which I now no longer want) then I bought your complete set (Jason one signed I think) which is in Scotland now. Anyway I digress, both sets did indeed come from over there.

I never knew that existed either!

Strange how they got to the US, - I was quite a poster addict for years, and whereever I looked I never saw any Spiritualized posters.

Apart from the free Spacemen 3 poster in the Hypnotised 12", The earliest poster I got was the Pure phase one with Jason, Kate and Saun. I can't remember where it came from. Sadly despite being framed it was on the wall the dampest part of my cellar, and is now totally fucked. Still can't quite bring myself to throw it away though.

The LAGWAFIS set were used as "bait" for indicator record shops in the US. Indicator shops being like tastemaker shops who were in tune with the UK indie music scene. And some were given away at shows on that tour. I distinctly remember a set going at the Milwaukee show which was the first of the US tour. Jason did comment only two sets were used in the UK. As billboard type ads. One in London and one in Manchester. Which highlighted is displeasure with BMG/Arista's marketing, or lack there of, of LAGWAFIS.

The Lazer Guided Melodies posters came from Dedicated's Notting Hill office. I just walked in there and told the receptionist I owned a shop in Detroit and Spiritualized were our favorite band. She came out with a tube and said "I hope this will suffice". She gave me three 60 x40 posters and five small blue posters. But the thing I remember most from that visit were two two foot(approx) tall ceramic sculptures of the Angel and Devil from the LGM cover. The receptionist mentioned they were used for the cover and posters. The bases were 5 inch solid square black wood. They were beautiful. I wonder where those wound up.

Here is a photo of one of them.

Spzretent I remember the red LGM one. Unclear...is that what you have? MBV (which I used to have) and the Godflesh posters in your photo are a major flashback to the same posters in the record store I worked in at the same time...that's how I got the LGM promo poster. What about the LAGWAFIS promo poster (with Kate on it), do you remember that one?...or was I hallucinating... I wasn't working at the store anymore but it was the biggest poster on their wall, also with a million staples in it and even though she wasn't in the band anymore. Anyhow...a cool poster. Anyone remember?

Yes. The Kate poster was seperate from the 4 x HUGE UK poster set. She is holding the record I think. I have gone thru a few sets of those LAGWAFIS sets but only have seen one Kate poster.

Oh, I do like the look of that Feel so Sad poster. I do hope the new album has decent artwork. Have't been too impressed with the art on the more recent albums, although A+E was an improvement on amazing grace, it certainly doesn't make as good poster material as the earlier albums.

Just a quick update on the ebay poster seller - one of the prints he sent me was different from the one I ordered. As soon as I pointed this out to him, he offered to send me the correct one free of charge.

So, for this act of excellent customer service, he gets the much sought after Clewsr Seal of Approval: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Before-Endeavo ... 1645648017

Wow! Jump on it. I've never seen this anywhere in 19 years, never really looked though. Makes a nice framed poster, mine is sitting in the spare room (hence the horrible pic). I don't have a spot to put it where I am right now. The Missus says it needs a new frame but I really don't want to re-frame it.

Yeah, I saw that too. Think $47 to get it to the UK might be a bit steep though (whats that in real money?!). Plus I'm quite happy with the 3 I bought, framed and put up in the last week. Got a Wooden Shjips/The Heads tour poster up to along with one for the Primal Scream/Brian Jonestown Masacre gig I went to in San Francisco a couple of years ago. Not sure I've got any room for any more.

I have that framed in my bedroom. I bought it off one of my old customers. I gave all of ours away and never kept one for myself. Completing the circle I guess.
Best part is I garbage picked a framed vintage Saab poster from a neighbor. Pulled the Saab poster out, put the Spiritualized poster in. Then sold the Saab poster for $65.
Wish everything worked out like that.

Saw that last night but resisted. Spent a day thinking about it, checked and there were only 3 left. Immediately caved in and hit the BIN button.

An hour ago I clicked that link, thought "oh my, that's beautiful" but resisted. Just shy of £30 for a poster? Ouch.

Then I realised that I've wanted that poster since I was sixteen.

So I've just bought one.

:D

Edit:

Oh God, I've only gone and bought one of those Pure Phase and Recurring posters as well. That's what happens when you go on eBay after a few beers. Damn you, Schneiderweisse Tap 6

They already shipped it too. That was extremely fast.
