Here's an Early Years video, a band that I've just recently discovered. They're big Spacemen 3/Spiritualized fans and I'm going to see them supporting iLiKETRAiNS in a couple of weeks

My favorite YT video right now is this amazing Bo Diddley performance from the Big TNT Show of 1966. Any fan of "drone rock" should be able to appreciate this. And check out The Duchess on second guitar and sexy moves.

This is P-Funk, circa 1983 doing "Maggot Brain" with both Eddie Hazel (who originated the song, natch) and Michael Hampton soloing. The picture's a bit dark at first, but it brightens up. Eddie's on first.

Well how about that, someone on here posting an Eddie Hazel link, and a Maggot Brain link at that. You have just become my new favourite person on this message board.
Thanks for that, it's brilliant.

"Magnificent pods of dolphins swim in their natural environment in the Caribbean Sea. Underwater footage filmed by dolphin activists, Ric O'Barry and Diana Thater. These gorgeous images are set to "The Dolphins", a song written and performed by Fred Neil. This is a short excerpt from a 30 minute documentary, "The Dolphin Project" that chronicles the acitivities of a dolphin rights organization that works to keep dolphins out of captivity."
I just discovered Fred Neil last week.

Here's another phenomenal P-Funk clip, this one from 1969 on the "Say Brother" public TV program. Check out the pimp hats and the full Parliaments lineup with Clinton in purple overalls and Fuzzy Haskins trading lead vocals.

There used to be a longer version of this posted with further insanity, but it vanished so this edited version must suffice for now.

So far The Early Years have made 2 great videos on a small budget - you should be able to see both on their myspace site. Quite impressive videos - better than the last Spiritualized video for Cheapster, where I could see the concept (sort of) and it looked quite good in places, but in others it just looked cheap. Maybe there's some deliberate irony there, but I preferred the previous 2 videos.Edukator wrote:Here's an Early Years video, a band that I've just recently discovered. Kinda reminds me of a psyched-out version of one of those animated vids they used to put with the 'learning letters and numbers' songs on Sesame Street...mind you, those were already pretty psyched-out.ash wrote:Woah! Shame it cuts off - the syncing is pretty darn good...

He cops some shit for it -- "CRAZY FOO', WHAT'S WITH THE WACK ASS VISUALS?!?" -- but I think he just wants people to hear the tunes. (anyone promoting Fifth Dimension is cool with me)
And the footage grows on you besides. The clip for "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" def. resonates.

Hadn't seen this in years, boss clip. Love the one for "Gravity Grave" too (that's the one where Richard snogs the lass in the truckstop caff, right?), couldn't find it on there though.

Couple of Cowsills TV appearances swiped from Bedazzled! a while back. Couldn't find them on the 'Tube, so I upped. The performance of IIXII in the second clip is wild, Barry rasps his ass off. Dig little Suzie as the weird, wild-eyed and ecstatic all-singing/all-dancing talis(wo)man of the group, too. Way cool.

respect Spamuel L. Jackson, those are some fine clips, anything by Gram should be cherished! I found this a while ago. It is insane. It one of those musical moments that makes you glad you are still alive. chills down your spine. An amazing glimse of some past life. It is pure electricity. If you dont get it fair play but it means the world to me.

I'd heard 'The Fairest Of The Seasons' a few times.
I'm not too familiar with much of Nico's stuff.
Chelsea Girl has been on my list for a while. I've heard it recommended. I know most of VU played on it. I'll order it later. Any other pointers?
Spacey, I'll never look at our Serbian centre-back in the same way again.
