whats wrong with AG
just makin some points about what pissed me off about amazing grace:
the annoying feedback-y sound when he's about to sing on all the rockin songs. it was supposed to lend some immediacy to the production, but it just sounds too deliberate and calculated.
the bit where he coughs/splutters on the 1st song-again sounds deliberate rather than on-the-spot.
the singin is way too quiet on 'hold on', esp compared to the loud opening.
the TOP GUN guitar solo on 'oh baby'. i can just imagine maverick squinting into the sunset with this playing in the background.
'the power and the glory'. mother o' jaysus, what a heap of ned.
the fiddly bits at the start and end of 'rated x'. the middle singin part should be longer, too.
'lay it down slow'. cringe-inducin pile of shite.
overall, it's not too bad, but it would be my least favourite spz album (apart from complete works - i want my money back!)

You seem to know alot about what makes a good Spiritualized album.....hopefully JP will ask you to write and arrange the next album so we won't have to put up with the shit he's been peddling for years now!
actually, i don't think there is anything wrong with AG. after LiCD, there was nowhere else for jason to go but there. sure he could have kept on going through the same old motions, with the orchestrations and insane productions, but.... that would be very dull. and as everything that has been said about LICD, doesn't seem that anyone was happy with that either. Hell, are you all wanting some LAGWAFIS/LGM mixed with skinny puppy? (actually, that doesn't sound to bed) Jason isn't god or anything, and he'll do whatever he wants to. If he kept on doing the same thing, some of you people will just trash that album too. so appreiciate it for what it is, another spiritualized album, and one that is just straight on, good old days (and i speak of the Spacemen 3 days) garage rock.
Have fun people

Here's a thing.
I'm sure the next Spiritualized album that's created in the studio (excluding 'live' recordings) will be very different.
Unless J was to change his style, but I can't imagine him retreading an older sound.
But what do you think/want the next record to sound like?
More uh, 'natural' instruments (drumkit, acoustic guitars, spare, muted. Maybe like the acoustic radio sessions, with more bells, chiors ... Flux - esque.?
More electricity? More feedback, punk rock gone apeshit? Heavy metal with the pure Spiritualized keyboard sound... with choirs.
Lots of guest jazz musicians, live in a room sound, SHJ co-producing.
Or maybe the current live sound transmuted into an album, lots of noise segues, and a lot of bass. Jason sits down in recording studio...
Or maybe a mad Space Odyssey... loads of reverb, effects, panning etc.
One track album. Hidden harmonies, lots of whispered references to dope and Jesus... Produced by J Spaceman
Possible title?
'HEAVEN AIN'T HIGH ENOUGH'
