Michael Jackson is in discussions about creating a 50-foot robotic replica of himself to roam the Las Vegas desert, according to reports.

The pop legend is currently understood to be living in the city, as he considers making a comeback after 2004's turbulent child sex case.

It has now been claimed that his plans include an elaborate show in Vegas, which would feature the giant Jacko striding around the desert, firing laser beams.

If built, the metal monster would apparently be visible to aircraft as they come in to land in the casino capital.

It is the centerpiece of an elaborate Jackson-inspired show in Vegas, according to Andre Van Pier, the robot's designer.

Luckman Van Pier, his partner at the company behind the proposal, claims blueprints have been drawn up for the show and seen by the star.

"Michael's looked at the sketches and likes them," he told the New York Daily News.

On the subject of the robot, he continued: "It would be in the desert sands. Laser beams would shoot out of it so it would be the first thing people flying in would see."

Awesome!

Alan, Thread title of the year for sure!

So let me get this right - Jackson's buliding a giant robot to shoot the landing planes at Vegas with lasers???

Probably not the worst thing he's done. Sorry.

Maybe he wants to see the flip side of the coin and have a big monster do unto him what he did to others :?:
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

Allegedly.

I wish he'd chill the fuck out with the Emperor Of The Universe shit, and do his album of torch songs I want him to do. Or an album of Beach Boy ballad covers. I do an ace impression of Mike singing "The Warmth Of The Sun" at the piano. Seriously. It rules.

Chill out ? I'd prefer to see him burn in hell...or he could just get torched and give some closure and satisfaction to his young american 'friends'

What I'd like him to do is probably illegal and libellous to say...hence I leave it up to your imagination...well as far as Man U fans can manage...

If I thought Mike was a paedo, I'd feel the same way. But he's a fuck-up, not a kiddyfiddler. Forget about how much you hate "Earth Song" and take an objective look at the 'evidence'.
Either way, what I think of pederasty has nothing to do with art. Same reason why I'm not gonna stop loving Philles because he might have shot a woman in the face. When I look at Mike I see an old-skool entertainer who did some great work and blew a lot of promise besides.

Back to Mike:
If he's a pederast, fuck him. I'm not convinced tho.
As disturbing as he can seem, the accusers and their families cut equally sinister figures in their way.

Anyway. I also do a mean impression of MJ singing "Surf's Up", but I have to grab my crotch to hit the high F on "domino".

He's a tabloid dream isn't he and he'll get plenty of attention with a giant robot. But that's up to him and i'm not getting drawn into your other issues.

Anyway i saw MJ in concert during the 'Bad' tour and it was a bloody brilliant concert. Take the stigma away from the personality and you are left with one hell of an entertainer and performer of great songs, most of the time.

You guys ever see the South Park where Cartman cons Butters into thinking he's really a robot called Awesome-O? That episode was a scream.

Amazing physical performance here, almost Chaplin-esque in places. Love it.

Underrated tune, cool moody clip.

Can't choose a fave vid of his. Maybe one of B+W, THRILLER, BEAT IT or TWYMMF. But then BAD and JAM are amazing too.

Oh, for sure! It's a shame that he tarnished his legacy by just being plain out weird. Around the Thriller era, he had respectable surgery. He looked like a decent human being. By the time Bad came out, he was a white dude with ill advised plastic surgery (see Kenny Rogers, but he was already a white dude!). Truly proof that sometimes the most insecure out of all of society is the big name stars, who feel more pressure to look a certain way or are insecure about their looks. I would have thought it would have been the other way around!

not a big fan of botdf, both the song and the album i find weak attempts to grasp at what once was. the last great number was They Don't Care About Us with it's HUGE drums. or maybe Stranger in Moscow (both had great videos too!).
his best video is Speed Demon! (i think from the Moonwalker film)
his best tune however is Give Into Me, featuring none other than Slash! forget that super slick pop or the star dancing disco, Give Into Me is one of the great hard rock epics. it's like dirty diana times a thousand. best song ever.

I'll tell ya, later than that, "Invincible" was one one fuck of an underrated album. Some great stuff on there. As far as a big defining multimedia statement goes tho, it did fall a bit short with "You Rock My World". Either that or I'm just not getting it.

I'm with you on the greatness of "They Don't Care About Us" and "Stranger In Moscow". "Speed Demon", a little less so.
"Give In To Me" is amazing, great shout.

The "Jam" clip is another underrated fave of mine.

ha! Blood on the Dancefloor came on about an hour ago and just as i was reaching for the skip button, i had an awakening. suddenly i found myself alive with the sound of music! i danced my way round the room till i could boogie no more (and the song ended). marvellous tune! what was i thinking?!
(i know what i was thinking - "it's no Smooth Criminal", and it still isn't! but it's unfair to dismiss something for not being as great as SC, for it really is the best song ever!)

superfly sister is a winner too, once i get past those lyrics about 'push it in/stick it out'. morphine also has a particular charm, akin (though not sharing a theme) to Dangerous (title-track). ghosts (and it's disappointing promo) and is it scary don't quite make it, but the do have their tricks (and they're still more worthwhile than the likes of 2bad or Money).
dont think i've EVER listened to the second half of that record...
