Nick Cave

Post by spzretent »

Have you ever wondered why some people went so crazy over an artist or band and you had no idea why? I was like that with Nick Cave until last Saturday. I used to play the records all the time in my shop and never "got it".
I saw a copy of the Nick Cave videos comp DVD used and picked it up. Not only were the videos great(most) but I now understand the adulation thrust upon him.
Too bad it took me 15 years.
Better late than never I guess.

you will. i too didn't think the lighting bolt would ever strike, but then about ten years ago i heard 'few of my favorite things' by john coltrane. i almost came to tears, i thought it was one of the most beautiful things i had ever heard.

then i heard 'a love supreme'.

words can't describe that one.

me

p.s. - hey spzretent, you should check out the live concert that the video 'deana' is from, it's amazing.

it's taken me about 10+ years to 'get' nick cave too. my wife is obsessed with his music and i only recently really got into it. 'god is in the house' is one of the best concert dvds i think i've ever seen.

I find Spiritualized and Spacemen 3 take some people a while to 'get'.

it took me till there she goes my beautiful world to realise my love for nick cave. he then proceed to stomp on my face and shove his fist up my backside. i love him.

finally got round to seeing the proposition a few months ago (after discussion on it briefly, on here about a year ago) and was thoroughly impressed. not the most original work, but akin to cave covering peckinpah. full of the voluptuous gore and soul of nicks best music, really enjoyable.
gonna burn brightly

I've loved Nick's work for years, since hearing From Her to Eternity in a Wim Wenders film, but I've never been able to convert any of my mates.

He's a bloody genius as far as I'm concerned and can do no wrong.
It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

Dear boys, it's time you get a copy of the 'Grinderman' cd. Foekin' amazing stuff. Listen track 2: 'no pussy blues'. The Caveman rocks!

Grinderman is getting a shitload of hype.--but also from my reputable sources, so that's a coup for the album! I've gotta pick that up. Admittedly, I too, am out of the Nick Cave loop.

check out The Dirty Three next.
Warren Ellis is a part-time Bad Seed, and is a demon on the violin.

Hey Spz! what up bro. Tigs doin anything. Dodgers are ON FIRE, Just chillin out tonight. RO sent me a nice COMP and reading all these while listening.

BIRTHDAY PARTY was a bit noisy for me..but NICK CAVE was a favorite of mine back in the day. Tender Prey was on the stereo alot.

"i awoke in my boots and clothes not wanting to read the letter, but reading it anyway, she had taken my car, stolen my cash, even my $500 suit was slashed and then reading those 3 words LOVA LOVA GOODBYE."

SLOWLY GOES THE NIGHT.

I used to listen to this shit over and over again.

The fucking guy brought STYLE back to ROCK N ROLL.

SUITS, FUCKING RINGS!

The guy is pure class. Saw him at ST.ANDREWS!

BLIXA was cool too!

In Detroit EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN brought me on their fucking TOUR BUS! and back to the HOTEL that was fucking special!

They were amazed that I could speak German.

The Memories....

GOD SAVE ROCK N ROLL.

You know, I was looking at a picture of Grinderman, and I was wondering, "where is Warren Ellis?". Apparently behind a gigantic beard!!!!
