blue on blue LGM outtakes vol 2

Post by bunnyben »

just got this email....

Hi ...thought I'd give you first shout on these
I have another cd of unheard gems from Lazer guidedmelodies .It's called "Blue on Blue".
They will be ready to go in about two weeks .attached is some artwork .price on this is £14.99
I will be listing on Ebay as auction to start of with,
but as you supported me with the first release I am happy to sell to you direct.
More essential rarities for fans and collectors oflate spacemen3/early Spiritualized. Different vocal takes , different mixes, an unhearddemo version of These Blues , and a version of "Sometimes" from the very firstSpiritualized practice .Following on from the very well received Friendly Fire , Blue on Blue focusses more on the studio side of things ...withonly the last track being taken from the live environment .The sound quality ,(with the exception of the
last
track ), is excellent throughout .
These cd's have been professionally produced and
mastered and they are NOT cdr's

None of these versions have been released on cd
before.
They remain unavailable on i-tunes .

track listing
----------------

Why Don’t You Smile Now (alt mix)

Step Into The Breeze Instrumental(alt. mix)

Angel Sigh Guitars(alt. mix )

If I Were With Her Now (alt mix)

Anyway Violins(outtake)

Didgeridoo (Sway demo)

Take Your Time (alt. Vox)

200 Bars (alt mix)

These Blues(demo version)

Angel Sigh (alt mix 2)

Sometimes (first spiritualized rehearsal)

:runtime :1 hour and thirteen minutes :

This the tracklisting with commentary from fans who
helped with the compilation .

Why Don’t You Smile Now (Alt take)
------------------------------------

"It might even be the same track deep down, but your
version is significantly different. For instance,
there’s a moment just after the first chorus where the
bass is the only thing playing for a few seconds.
There’s an organ as well in the finished version. The
vocals on your version are less treated (it might even
be a guide vocal). Yes, with knobs on – this is
fantastic."

Step Into The Breeze ( alt Instrumental take)
-----------------------------------

"There is an instrumental version of Step Into The
Breeze on the Anyway That You Want Me single, but this
isn’t it. The intro on the single has overdubbed
violins and more guitar than this version. I think
they are the same track underneath, but this is
different enough to include."

Angel Sigh. (alt take )
--------------------

"I think I can hear someone talking near the start,
complaining about the rhythm section being out of
time! The guitars are less treated than on the second
take, but there again, there is the louder
instrumental bit after the first verse… So I’m not
sure exactly what is going on. ... it’s significantly
different to the released version."

If I Were With Her Now (alt take )
---------------------------

"Ooh, lovely early version. Completely different
breakdown (at 2.43) than the one that we’re used to"

Anyway you want me (outtake)
-----------------

"I really like this. It’s a fun diversion. Use it as a
linking track, to break up some of the longer pieces.
Don’t hide it away near the end."

Digeridoo (Sway demo)
--------------

"This has escaped onto the internet – I heard it a few
weeks ago. But the quality of this version is far
superior "

Take Your Time (alt take )
--------------------

"Lovely early vocal version "

200 Bars (alt take)
------------------

"Yep, different to the final one. Sounds like it’s on
the way though – much more than a demo. Lots of
different sounds, and I think the vocals are
different."

These Blues (demo version )
-------------
"Never heard this version before. Spacemen versions of
this are a bit of a holy grail, so please do include
it . Stunning, possibly the best thing on the CD."

Angel Sigh ( take 2)
-----------------------------

"Obviously an early take. Different vocals to the
final cut. Lots of different instrumentation. Very
nice!"

Sometimes (first spiritualized practice)
----------------------

"Obviously not available anywhere. I love this, but
let’s face it, I would. ."
'raging and weeping are left on the early road
now each in his holy hill
the glittering and hurting days are alomst done
then let us compare mythologies
i have learned my elaborate lie
of soaring crosses and poisened thorns'

i just hope it aint a fake ... you know, original master tapes fiddled with to make them sound like earlier or different demos.

ie: whack the reverb up on one channel, add a triangle to another, drop one of the guitar layers and .. hey presto! another long lost version of Run discovered in the vaults

Hi

Unforseen circumstances .
This is just a confirmation e-mail to say we received your mail ..
Further details are imminent .
You will get this cd as soon as anyone .

I think it will be worth the wait .

I'm starting to enjoy going to work  as I don't get chance to listen to music at home anymore (baby's fault ).

First there was the acoustic mainline bootlegs and now this. Ripped it to my ipod this morning and am currently enjoying the strange delights of Didgeridoo :D

It's f'in incredible. Hearing those alternates of Angel Sigh are as close as I'll ever come to reliving '92 all over again. (In a good way.)

Also, that looooonnnnng version of "Sometimes" is fab too. This is great, just great.

Well,Are there any other available channels of getting it out there ?
(And i think you know what i mean...).
In the Internet age,I don't think it is fair to pay for bootleged music.
There are other great channels,Free ones, for sharing such kinds of recordings.

well if it isn't worth your coughing up 12 quid to someone who actually played on the original then i hope you have to wait a long long time(if ever).
in the "internet age" w/paypal and other forms of easy online transactions it not difficult at all to get this release.
it just seems like you dont want to pay for it.
sorry but that is my sentiment on this.

I kinda concur with Spzrtnt here. I'm a big fan of "the internet age" and all the ways it permits one to obtain music...I'm sure this will become available that way in time, but I don't feel like being the one to do it. I'm sure Will's still got copies available, and it's certainly worth-buying and thensome.

Does anyone else wonder whether the quotation from St. Augustine that's printed on the sleeve--"Because I do it with one small ship I am called a pirate. You do it with a whole fleet and are called an emperor"--is a jab at Jason? Kinda seems like it might be.

truth be told it really pisses me off, the whole idea of it should leaked to internet, so a few cheapskates can save some money. I fully realize the internet has killed the bootleg market and have no problem what so ever w/folks here who trade shows and the like.
Will has put some time and effort into this and FF. He specifically asked for it not to be leaked for at least a month.
Not only that, but if the posts in this thread aren't enough to make you want to purchase this then you never were going to in the first place.

Well,i would gladly pay (and do) for official releases by my fav artists. But why not SHARE unofficial releases ? I gladly share any bootleg i can get my hands on,based on a feeling that i am a member of a community i am happy to contribute to. People should be glad that they can share rare stuff, not make profit out of it.

Call it semi-legit. It's not like you're paying for typical studio boot fare, a load of offcuts sourced from 50th generation copies with only one true gem in the whole lot. It's lovingly prepared, well-packaged product. And £12 is hardly a ripoff.

What vexes me isn't people downloading 'hard to find' material, it's why they don't jump at the chance of hard-copy when it's there.
