Who wrote "I am what I am"?

Post by Calle »

A friend of mine found a radio session in which a brilliant song/cover called I am what I am was performed. Now, the thing is that we cannot figure out who wrote it.

Anyone got any idea?

It's never been identified as a cover of someone else's song, so the assumption is that Jason wrote it.

Really?
Thought it was an Elvis-cover or something like that.
Well, thanks a lot for answering.

Is it featured on any bootleg? Was it a usually performed live at some period? Never heard about it until a couple of weeks ago.

I was always under the impression that Popeye penned that one.

wasn't it in La Cage Aux Folles (The Birdcage) and became a gay anthem?
