pure phase tones for dj's 12"

Post by andyblacktoo »

anyone got any ideas how much a complete minter of a copy is worth?

or realistic prices for 12" lps of ladies and gents, live at the royal albert hall and lazer guided melodies?

My Pure Phase Tones turned up in cereal box packaging without any "Do Not Bend" stickers...hence the postie folded it to fit letterbox!

It was mint...now it's double mint. Paid 15GBP for it.

Try Discogs...US seller i think is punting his for the eqiuivalent of 10GBP.

They turn up on buy-it-now on ebay once in a while 15GBP seems to be the benchmark for Tones.

Dunno about LAGWAFIS, LRAH or LGM except that i'm sure there will be a premium on LAGWAFIS. I'll keep my eyes peeled as i have a habit of uncovering bargains in strange places. Thats not because I frequent a lot of strange places more that i'm from a long-line of miserable ba*tards.

I've got the Tones 12" too, can't remember what I paid for it...
Also have just about everything else, including the 12 mini-cd and Elvis version of Ladies and Gents...
I bought it all back when I thought Spiritualized would be the next Velvet Underground.

Not for sale, though. Still holding out hope.

i bought them all when they came out......

it's just someone left me a stack of records, and i've been clearing everything out, when i realised, i bought the 12" of ladies and gents on day of release, and never even played it. so with copies going for £100 on ebay, its tempting to ponder how much its worth.

hmmmm

slice the top of your head off, remove your brain, insert a bush mini turntable, place Tones on the turntable, start it up

the need for the other 3 albums you will learn (to love) to live without.

I'll top Laz offer by 5 quid if you do free P&P

If it's got a hole in the middle, does that make it mint condition?

Nae luck then as I would argue they are actually better than the Velvet Underground. *gasp!*

I mean what did the Velvets ever do for us? I blame the goths directly on them for a start...

[when Lou Reed was faces with this accusation he became really fucking angry...]

I got mine for AUD30, which is around £12, I think. Never thought I'd ever see a copy in my lifetime, let alone stumble across one in a second hand record store. And it even had my name on the back!!

;)

(gee, you disappear for a couple of months, and the whole layout changes... sheesh!)

Pure Phase Tones is straight garbage.
unless you're a collector, i can't understand
why anyone would even want that record.

...or a DJ...?

Personally, I find it rather soothing and relaxing to listen to.

i've been dj'ing professionally for damn near 15 years now and i have never
once wanted to throw Pure Phase Tones into a set. i'm also a huge fan of
drone and ambient music. i just gotta say PFT is great on the Pure Phase
album and i love when Spiritualized use it live, but on it's own, i have
absolutely no use for it.

Surprised there has been no comment that it may just be a diluted and extended sounding Ecstasy Symphony

I give up, I've avoided this album for years but now I feel the need to hear it. Can some kind soul please upload so I can see what the fuss is about and if it really is as bad as I've heard.

It's not an album. If you want to know what it sounds like, put on pure phase track and play it at different speeds.

Don't mean to offend you but not an album? interesting. 12 inches, vinyl, 8 tracks, sounds like an album to me. I like your description of playing pure phase at different speeds I'll try that.

Edit....I just took Pure Phase into Audacity and changed the pitch accordingly to the tracks on the album and got some interesting results. I'm willing to post it if anybody is interested
