going down slow

Post by bunnyben »

does anyone know the lyrics please?
'raging and weeping are left on the early road
now each in his holy hill
the glittering and hurting days are alomst done
then let us compare mythologies
i have learned my elaborate lie
of soaring crosses and poisened thorns'

I reckon the lyrics are (and I apologise for any errors and I am happy to be corrected):

Verse 1

Please Lord
may I be wrong
'cos women are right
they are not young
Please Lord
may I be foolish
'cos women are wise
they're not satisfied
Please Lord
may I be lonely
'cos women are not
they're reckless you know
Please Lord
may I be a liar
when men tell the truth
they're all alone

Bridge

And I haven't got a clue
and nor has anyone I know
Trying to forget
all the things that haven't happened yet

Verse 2

Please Lord
may I be wrong
'cos women are right
they are not young
Please Lord
may I be foolish
'cos women are wise
they're not satisfied
Please Lord
may I be helpless
'cos women are strong
they're dangerous you know
And please Lord
put a tiny little spring in my step

Chorus/coda

Well I've got it right now this time
I'm going, I'm going down slow

(Repeat Verse 1)

I always thought that it was "when men..." wherever you've put "women..."

Christ, yeah, I'm sorry, I think you must be right about that...now I'm really scared that I'm subconsciously misogynous.

What do you mean? The studio version was released as a b-side to one of the singles from LICD. I think it might have been on Out Of Sight.

Really? I'd never heard it until i went to the AM gig. I assumed it was a new song. I've also assumed that 'soul on Fire' and 'Sitting on Fire' are also songs from the new album. Am I wrong on that score too?

The only Spz single I ever bought was Let it Flow

Man, you're missing out on some seriously awesome b-sides. I could probably help you out if you want to send me your email address. I think Sitting On Fire is going to be on the new album. It's definitely not been released before. I don't think I've heard Soul On Fire yet ... it's probably new, too.
