Boston MFA Recording

Post by ryandfl »

I'm guessing someone posted this already, but last week a Boston blog posted a really nice quality recording of the Boston MFA Acoustic Mainlines gig.

Probably the best recording of "Sitting on Fire" I've heard yet.

Is it me or are these ever-so-slightly at the wrong speed?

Interesting question - WWJ definately picks up the pace compared to any other Acoustic Mainline gigs I've seen/heard, plus Jason's vocal register seems a little higher than usual.

Soul On Fire's a bit trickier - this one actually sounds better to me than when I've seen it, with that extra bit of spring in it's step that it could do with.

I couldn't be bothered listening to True Love Will... as it wasn't an Acoustic Mainlines song that particularly impressed me anyways, plus Spectrum did it better already in the same vein.
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

Dusted this off this morning and popped it into the car cd player. This really is stunning. Amazing quality. Great versions of Feel So Sad & Shine A Light(until this was only played a few nights earlier in Toronto but no recording of that show that I know of).
Once again reminding me of why I put my eggs in the Spiritualized basket.

This sounds really intriguing and has made want to have a listen. However, for whatever reason I don't think I ever downloaded this at the time. Is anybody able to kindly put this up again? Thanks in advance if you can.

It's still available to download from the original blog. I know this because I did it myself this morning.

It sounds ace.

I'd be interested in seeing the video, but that appears to have gone. There is a snippet on youtube but only one song.
It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

This was one of my favorite spz shows ever and certainly the most intimate. I was in the first row at the Apollo the night before, which was definitely special as well, but the MFA definitely felt like a much more personal experience. The MFA room was set up like a lecture hall at college, only had a few hundred seats. and there really isn't much of a stage. I was a few rows back but it felt like we were all just in this small room with the band. Dean & Britta played a great set there as well a few years later. The acoustics are great for a low key set, though I imagine a "rock" show would be a but out of place.

It is still there and to think it's been sitting there for ten and a half years without me realising!
Thanks for letting me know and a big thanks for resurrecting this thread.

Slowed down like the Magasinet Gothenburg show?
Never occurred to me.

Since it's come up......

https://www100.zippyshare.com/v/vKkam9WN/file.html

only 192kbps, but for those that don't have it.....

As per normal, Zippyshare can sometimes open a secondary window when you try and download. Just close it, and try again
