Just listening to 'Sweet Talk' on Radio 2 now...it sounds immense. I'm blown away.

Re: Radio 2 Tonight - Tuesday 13th May
for those who've heard the album version, is the treatment of it very similar to what was just played on the radio?LUFC_SPACEMAN wrote:sitting on fire live sounds very neil young

Great show - I love the Country Elvis take of 'Sweet Talk', it sounded fantastic and the singers were amazing! Some beautiful touches in there.
And Ro, I would say that version of 'Sitting on fire' is a bit more of a big-band thing than the album. Maybe.
Great line when Mark Radcliffe asked when the album was out...
J: "No idea"

I'll check it out. Just got two pool boxes for the bowl show. Row 7 center, some ticketmaster fluke

Re: Radio 2 Tonight - Tuesday 13th May
I've got mp3s of the songs, unfortunately only from the Radio Player stream, so not very high fidelity. I hope someone hooked up their digital radio. You can listen to the whole show for another 6 days or so here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/radcliffemaconie/ Oh, and the new bass player's name is Sam. Only 5 days until Cambridge! I'm dying to know what they'll play from the back catalogue, LAGWAFIS, Feel So Sad, and Lay Back in the Sun would all sound fantastic with the new setup (and make me one of the happiest people on the planet).
Re: Radio 2 Tonight - Tuesday 13th May
In case anyone missed it, HERE are the session tracks.
I've chopped out all the non-Spz stuff but left in the banter between J and Mark & Stuart, from which we learn amongst other things J's never been inspired to write a song about rawlplugs.
Enjoy.
Oh and if your interested it was recorded over t'internet using Total Recorder as a huge mp3 and then chopped up using iTunes. Not very elegant but dead easy. If anyone wants the full show I can upload that too, though you can of course just listen again via the BBC website.

Yeah thanks for taking the time to upload. cheers muchly!
Re: Radio 2 Tonight - Tuesday 13th May
No problem. I've downloaded stuff from other board members so thought it only fair to share.
I have noticed that the recordings are a bit quiet so I might try and boost the volume and upload them again if anyone wants.

I've been thinking precisely the same thing about Lay Back In The Sun the last few days, I think it would be perfect for the new lineup and would make me very happy.Jasonsmith wrote: I'm dying to know what they'll play from the back catalogue, LAGWAFIS, Feel So Sad, and Lay Back in the Sun would all sound fantastic with the new setup (and make me one of the happiest people on the planet).
I'm very intrigued about what they are gonna play- with no thighpaulsandra, no drones. No Electric Mainline?

I also would love to see the long awaired return of Lay Back In The Sun. I wouldn't give up on Electric Mainline as, along with Take Your Time and Shine A Light, this seems to be one of the "Untouchables" in the Electric Spiritualized set list.angelsighs wrote:I've been thinking precisely the same thing about Lay Back In The Sun the last few days, I think it would be perfect for the new lineup and would make me very happy.Jasonsmith wrote: I'm dying to know what they'll play from the back catalogue, LAGWAFIS, Feel So Sad, and Lay Back in the Sun would all sound fantastic with the new setup (and make me one of the happiest people on the planet).

If you have the time and are willing to re-post with increased loudness I'll be very grateful. And if you are going to the Koko gig I'll even buy you a beer!
