WHILST LOOKING FOR PUREPHASE TONES FOR DJS TODAY

Post by tramboy »

Came across this -

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/d ... ice-stream

You can stream the files or buy them on iTunes - what I found more interesting tho was the farfisa sound - if you listen to it then watch the A+E video clip there's some crossover.. Found it by chance mind - still looking for a downloadable PurePhase Tones for DJs (all 8 tracks)

Have a listen - this to me is what the 'Spiritualized' sound is all about - tones, noise, nothing, tones, waves of sound. Has a hints of Soul on Fire in there -

So - anyone know of any PPTfDJ downloads or indeed how to rip a stream live from the link above (read that as if you can can you post it somewhere to get hold of? I dont have a clue how to do it....)

PPTfDJs - this is something else, after a good few years now of wanting to hear it, it happens. karma see - help someone, good things happen. I read about this some years back now - possibly Select magazine just after it was released, how the studio engineers had thought J had gone to far, making a record which plays at 2 speeds but in perfect pitch throughout. When J pops his clogs I see a renaissance coming of his body of work - the past few albums, regardless of your thoughts, press comments, reviews, lack of attendances at concerts etc, this is what he will be known for. The thought that' in this idea - I think the closest thing I have ever heard to this is Lamonte Young' Dream House piece.
Jimmy G - passed my thanks on before, but I think you're going to make a lot of people very happy on this board with your upload. Now - I don't have much to give - nor do I know how to upload images, but would anybody be able to YouSendit - the Yoko Ono/J track that began this post?
If someone can post up a few notes on the dark arts of image upload, I can post up a few shots from Nottingham the other week...

I would gladly upload if it were not a protected apple file (bought it from iTunes). If you like the tune, you should look into getting the 12" picture disk. It's very nice b/w Antony & the Johnsons...or if you like huge pictures of Yoko's face it's also very nice.

can anybody else hear the A+E backing tracks in this? the farfisa, the squealing guitar, the drum sound, the acoustic bit on the 12 string in it which is soul on fire.... this is really good- the old caterwalling boot has never sounded so good....

GF - thanks

I definitely hear the connection to the new album, but I also hear the "Lay Back in the Sun" beat with the faint choir.

An amazing song to go back and listen to is their cover of "Sad Days Lonely Nights" on the Junior Kimbrough tribute album. It is a curious link between Amazing Grace and A&E. (I would also upload this if it were not a protected file).

You're welcome, thanks to the person who put the massive torrent file together in the first place.
Now, enough with the praise, you're making me blush.

If anyone could post these tones in MP3 somewhere, you could please an ageing fan who cursed the day he turned down the opportunity to buy it ("record" or "night out"... a really bad decision made).
I could only offer gratitude in return...
Thanks.
