Audio Interview:

Has anyone else seen a small interview with Jason in a smaller American music magazine? I'm not sure what the name of the magazine is, but it has a picture of Jason sitting on top of a stack of chairs with his silver shoes on...

"The last time I played on stage with Patti Smith, we hit one chord for 10 minutes. But it became the single most important thing in our lives."

Amazing quote!

The Pioneer Press named A&E the #1 album of 2008. Minnesota knows what's up.

I'm surprised that A&E hasn't shown up on my end of the year lists. I figured it'd be up there on the Pitchfork list, but that didn't happen. Oh well. At this point, I really only look at the top 10 of any of the lists and that's only out of curiousity. Anything beyond that seems random to me. How can you differentiate between the 38th and 39th best albums of the year? Stupid.

anything after the top two seems stupid. infact the whole ranking system is rediculus but it's fun! so we'll keep in doing it
'raging and weeping are left on the early road
now each in his holy hill
the glittering and hurting days are alomst done
then let us compare mythologies
i have learned my elaborate lie
of soaring crosses and poisened thorns'

I actually don't find it much fun beyond the top ten albums of the year. Lists like "Top 10 Songs of the Year" seem completely useless ... how could you possibly choose and rank them, much less attempt to justify your decisions? I suppose it's sometimes nice to read about the best reissues, but is there a point to ranking them?
