Hiya Dredgie! Tell us a bit about yourself. Tell us why you like Spiritualized - if indeed, you do like them; what the first Spiritualized record you bought was, and what your purpose is here?

I ask this because Spiritualized meant, and still do mean, an awful lot to me (and many other people who post), but your sole contribution to discussion so far seems to be getting rather weak pops at people by treating them as imbeciles. Say something constructive. Or does that sound dumb to you? Doing the old pedantry routine, or dissing people for no reason (posters and/or musicians) has been done to death by $26, and for all his multiple sins, he has a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of music and is a smart little cookie. Do you have that?

People care about Spiritualized. I mean REALLY CARE, not Manic Street Preachers care, or Marilyn Manson care, but 'playing 'em every day care' or 'seeing them live 53 times care', or owning over a hundred of their live shows care. We know Pierce doesn't read this shit, and we know he won't listen to us, but still...you need to vent your feelings, right? And we know Pierce is fallible: his judgement can be spectacularly bad sometimes, and it's my belief that the fans that care the most about this band DO NOT see him as God. And do not see a spectacular exercise of piss-taking as a work of genius.

The existence of CWVI and CWVII has damaged that a bit for me - No, a LOT. Do you get that? Similarly, I love 'Amazing Grace', and would be glad to justify why I do, but a lot of people on this board don't. It's worth discussing these things.

why do you spend so much time ranting about a band you don't relate to anymore?
It doesn't take that much time, although I'm not sure my boss would see it that way. For my part the reason why I still take an interest (i don't like to think of it as ranting!) is that while Jason's laziness is well documented, he has written enough material that has blown me away enough to hope for more... just because I don't subscribe to everything he knocks out why the fuck is that so hard to understand? Besides, other than LGM I was always more of an S3 fan anyway.... for comparison Sonic's forever alien wasn't for me but in the same way I'll be at the front of the queue for the next spectrum offering simply cos I know the talent's there. Does that not seem reasonable?
nasty sounds like a closet mick hucknall nut !!!!
i daren't protest other than to say that i suspected an underlying reason for the rather crude comparison of boards of canada and simply red!

In a silly attempt to bring this "discussion" back to point, some of us fortunate ones from Chris Barrus' old site have our own Complete Works that smashes the balls of CWVI and II. Purespace: I think I mentioned the idea of doing this on an earlier post in this thread but it seemed to get shouted down.

That's a pretty impressive set, I don't have a fair bit of it but have most of what's been committed to vinyl or CD.

The only thing on CW2 I don't have is the X-Files theme.

Anyone interested PM me.

Stevie - I'm sorry you interpreted my post in that way. I genuinely wanted to hear what people who are going to buy CWVII had to say to the objections I raised. I really, honestly CANNOT UNDERSTAND why people want this.
Fair enough, but I guess the main reason why most people would want to buy it is cos they don't have some/any of the tracks that are on it. Simple as that probably.
wrote:With anti-CWVII posters ALL putting forward a hell of a lot more convincing, articulate and personal reasons why they won't buy CWVII and why they feel let down by this whole thing, I'd love to know why no-one answered ANY of the questions I asked. So, here's some more:
I can't answer your questions cos I've got eveything that's on it and I won't be buying it. I can't say I feel especially let down though cos although I hoped there might actually be some rarities on it I was always pretty sure that there'd be no surprises based on what appeared on cw1, which I did buy cos there was some bits on pieces on it that I didn't have and alot of the tracks on it I only had on vinyl.

One thing people seem to be missing in the last few posts (pages!!!) is that Jason probably has nothing whatsoever to do with this release.

Thats even more of an indictment of him then. He takes so much care in in other aspects of the Spiritualized releases. No matter how much he hates BMG he should still have major input w/CW2.
Furthermore, look how much thought he puts into b-sides.
I rest my case.

We spoke to him for a rather lengthy time a few weeks ago, he definetely has quite a few "projects" that he will be releasing . So all I can say is, if you don't like the CW2, or Amazing Grace, just waite till you see what he has in store for you.

That's very cryptic, care to enlighten us?!
Hello? Is no-one interested in what 'A Beautiful Noise' is hinting at, which is surely more interesting than sharing each other's views on how shit CWII is going to be?
