Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
does anyone actually know when its going to online to listen to in the Uk? and did anyone hear it?
Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
Turns out it started 3am, but it's re-run again today at an earlier hour (check website). So it's a 5 hour difference.simonkeeping wrote:does anyone actually know when its going to online to listen to in the Uk? and did anyone hear it?
I enjoyed it and now I wish I'd written down the titles. A lot of it was familiar, but I was sleepy towards the end I woke up on the floor in front of my speakers this morning, so I must have nodded off. Did anyone tape this?

Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
My neck is intact... the floor seems to suit me, it has become quite a frequent scenario. Perhaps it's due to ending a long relationship (15 years) a while back- I don't have to get to bed. I can do whatever I feel like. I even tried the stairs once (not so comfortable).simonkeeping wrote:cheers Sunny, thanks for the info!

Glad to hear youre not suffering! Its a fine skill sleeping in unusual places. I can sleep anywhere, toilets, trains, standing up. I am mocked on regular occasions for it.
I really hope someone taped it! due to my complete lack of technical knowhow Ive only just got the web radio page working on my computer. Its really good quality too!

Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
I'm not as lucky as you. I can't sleep anywhere, but floors are good.
It's on again 7pm (UK)... but I can't record it either unfortunately.

Speaking about all this sleep brings up a question that I have. If any of you can send me a bottle of Ambien that would be great. I'll stay up and record whatever u want.

I can't even figure out their website so this is very helpful.

Ro- I was thinking the same about Henry Flynt. That track woke me from my slumber and made me sit up and go 'What's this?!!"

no chat im afraid. he got an announcer to do it for him. theres a few tracks in there Im surprised to see. Death Cab for cutie inparticular.
Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
Yeah, I too was a little surprised by some of the songs as I don't normally envision Jason listening to much current stuff, let alone more mainstream fare like D.C.F.C., Mates Of State, Sigur Ros, Beck, etc.
Could it be that the station threw in some current playlist stuff to appease less adventurous listeners?
Speaking of Beck, his new album is a nice return to form after the last couple, which I felt we kind of disappointing... I much prefer him when he's doing his spacey-folkie stuff a la Sea Change and Mutations.

Maybe we can ask Mr Spazed99 if the current songs were his choice or the stations? Everyone seems to be asking the same thing-we want information please, haha!

If Spaceman were there, why wouldn't he talk?

even when j is there he doesn't talk!
from simonks post i'm assuming he wasn't even there (and am not surprised). had assumed the death cab thing (and others) were the stations own playlist.

totally! do you want to introduce the band? no. thats not his style. he likes to just get in there, get the business done and get out. I would have thought it was something set up when he was over for Coachella? even if he wasnt there, Its still his musical choices (barring a few exceptions). think of the Breezeblock sessions. now we've got another 3 weeks of 2 hour slots! brillianteven when j is there he doesn't talk!

Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
Jason supplied the station with either a complete 2 hour programme or a playlist. It was all compiled in London but was very time consuming. After the station threw in a few commercial curve balls it was decided not to complete the month so I believe they are re-running the first couple of shows. Hopefully they will resist the urge to 'spice' it up with Coldplay, Snow Patrol or the Kaiser Chiefs, for instance, but not limited to such luminaries....

Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
Thats a real shame. The station must be kicking themselves. Totally justified move form Jason. You dont invite someone to DJ then add stuff in off your own back just so it fits in with the stations normal playlist! Especially when your trying to palm it off as stuff he's chosen. What where they expecting? After the station threw in a few commercial curve balls it was decided not to complete the month

Re: J Spaceman XMU Guest DJ
Hello folks,
I had pretty much lost all interest in Spiritualized(complete sell out play list) and the fans that kept sticking up for him. I haven't logged into this board forever.
This was the right move by Spaceman. Something that always made him cool to me was that he turned me onto obscure psychedelic music, even punk stuff like Suicide. I'd hate to think that someone would actually enjoy Death Cab for Cutie because Spaceman played it on the radio. Glad he made the right choice and chose integrity over money.
Have a nice one,
Dave

The only CD I can find so far that contains The Hanging Man is on a soundtrack for a film called Mother Night from 96.
