Chocolate Watchband-Are You Gonna Be There

Oasis-Shock Of The Lightning

Crystal Antlers-Parting Song For The Torn Sky
(they're headed out on tour...http://larecord.com/news/2008/10/09/tou ... l-antlers/)

Witch-Seer

Darker My Love-Vol.4 (Blue)Vol.5 (Daily) from their 3rd live recording from Spaceland residencey

More than 3 I know. Only the Oasis is new and while I don't like the new album as much as the brilliant Don't Believe the Truth, there's some good ones on it. the rest of these songs have been around for a while and I'm still obsessed with them...

Cheval Sombre is fast becoming my current obsession. The recent releases on Trensmat and Static Caravan are 7' of pure gold. Sonic has some production duties on both and the sound is pure SP3, circa PP, with a softer soul. 'I Sleep' in particular is one of the most beautiful songs of the year.
I think the album is next year on Dean Wareham's label - Can't wait!!!!

I'm with you on the Bushart spaceis. We went to see them the night before SPZ played at Manchester .Very powerful at times. The encore was Second Skin and Tony Skinkiss came on a done a whirl on guitar.Quite a few of the crowd (me included) sang back almost word for word to this tune.Iwas quite moved come the end.Have you come to them thru John Lever and The Chameleons or are you new to all that???
The Chameleons (in my opinion) are one of the top 4 bands ever...(along with Joy Division,Spacemen 3 and of course Spiritualized)...and I would love to see them play live together again. As much chance of that happening tho as seeing either JD or S3 play live I think!!!!

Now three songs.....

jacques brel! now i love that guy, amazing tallent. shame the only english biogrpahy was written by someone whose use of english is terrible (despite being english) such a great song also. have you heard dusty springfield's version? tear jerking although one part of rod mccuken's translation that i don't like. in french it is 'i'd be the shadow of your dog' and in english they took away the dog

My mother is a HUGE fan of his so I grew up hearing Brel daily.

'From me to you' Beatles

'Gun vs Knife' Dan Sartain

And without my consent;
'Without You' Badfinger (at least it's not the Mariah Carey version running around my head). But stills...pretty pathetic!!! Where did it come from I wonder...

love that version. probably more than the album version actually. i love it when they do any of their older songs acoustic.

the walkmen- red moon
nick drake- river man (i listen to 'five leaves left' constantly during the wintertime)
the cure- underneath the stars (having been a cure fan for the last 13 years one of the most disappointing things has been the fact that i have not been able to justify shelling out money to buy the new cure album- i even bought the last one even though i only liked about half of it. this song is the only song i've ever bought by itself on itunes in lieu of buying an entire album. what makes the whole thing so maddening is how fantastic this song is and how comparatively lazy, weak and redundant the rest of the album is.)

The Voices - "Nobody Knows" live at the coliseum. Up on their Myspace, 14 and a half minutes of pure driving psyche. Awesome.

Deerhunter- "Calvary Scars II/Aux Out", from Weird Era Cont. A slow burner, but when it takes off! :D A perfect example of what this band can do when they get in the groove.

Only 2 for now but they're long enough to make up for a third.

Just the one song I'm currently obsessed with.

Having only ever had a CD of 'Damned Damned Damned' for a few years, I finally got around to picking it up on vinyl today. On the original Stiff label pressing, no less. :D

It ends with a cover of The Stooges, 'I Feel Alright', which wasn't on my CD. And it's bloody brilliant!

I've had to get up and keep putting the needle back on it. Glorious cover-version and I'm officially obsessed with it today.

Grateful Dead - Friend of the Devil
Global Village Trucking Company - Look Into Me

Nice one Fuzzhead - that Damned album still sounds incredible after all these years. How is it possible Brian James isn't endlessly name-checked as probably the best guitarist from that whole era? His work on that album is incendiary. I Feel Alright used to be monstrous live and sounds fucking ace on that album.

Paper Planes - M.I.A. (heard it in local record store and was hooked by the Clash sample)

I've been listening to those four "new" MBV tracks constantly the last couple of days. Apparently these songs were all recorded pre-Loveless, possibly even pre-Isn't Anything (especially Good for You and Cowboy Song, which would both sound in place on the You Made Me Realise EP). Anyone know the history of these tracks?

More current obsessions:

Ocean in the Way - Dinosaur Jr.
Sometimes I Realise - Engineers
Poison Arrow - Sonic Youth

Well... I don't really have one of those at the moment...

I have at least two that I have listened to quite a lot during the last days... Run and Symphony Space it seems. ^^ But apart from that... I am not really obsessed with any particular song at the moment.

M: Yeah, you’ve got to kill it.
W: Me? I’m the firelighter and fuel collector.
