I love that song - I hadn't heard it for ages, then it was played at the last ever Optimo, which was great to hear.

Arcade fire / 'The suburbs'

Really loving this new album. It sounds like the next step on from 'Funeral'. Great artwork on the sleeve and notes too.

Spectrum/Captain Memphis on Great Pop Supplement (Still love watching this play and is the single best sounding/looking piece of new vinyl I've bought this century). I can't figure how to embed this shot, so here is the URL:

here's a link to a rar file of the opening track http://ghostly.fetchapp.com/get/eimuf
and another for "soil to seed" http://email.ghostly.com/t/y/l/bhruij/dlbhlird/j

I also have 2min snips of every track and...and...it's better than his previous collosal Asa Breed.

For a taste of things to come, watch Matthew Dear's Black City video trailer—a striking, Metropolis-influenced montage of images and Dear's new music—at his official website. Now is Matthew Dear's moment, and it sounds like nothing else.

Exciting times afoot...

The new Brian Wilson album, which is a covers record of Gershwin tunes. Surprisingly amazing - His singing is the best he's done in over a decade.

Plenty of Nick Cave and VU stuff for me the last week:

Nick Cave - From Her To Eternity, Mutiny/Bad Seed EP. The Best Of, Grinderman.

I'd only just bought the remaster of FHTE so sat down and watched the dvd last night and it made me like and appreciate that album a lot more. Plus it's affected my dress sense too, hahaha, shirts and trousers at work instead of jeans and any old tee shirt. What a great looking band, totally suave and badass. Will be moving onto the next few remasters of the early years when money deems it possible.

VU - Live 1969, White Light White Heat, VU & Nico

Live 1969, wow, what an album. Not played it for many years but dug it out after pounding the WLWH album for a couple of days on the trot. Love the relaxed vibes of Lou's intro chit chat, really makes it feel like you're sat there on a bean bag up close being stroked one minute then taken off on some speedy freak out the next.

There's loads of Nick Cave i've never heard, but I really liked the last Grinderman - or at least the single 'No Pussy Blues'.

I have yet to hear the whole album but I really, really love that tune... new album out soon as well!

Aye, they look amazing as well. I seen Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at the Carling/O2 Academy during the 'Abbatoir Blues' tour, and they were just fantastic. I had no idea they were such mentalists on stage. I intend to check out their back catalogue one day... What do you recommend Johnny? I have Let Love In and the last two, and that's it.

Myself, I'm really enjoying this album I was raving about a few weeks ago...

http://ideensynthese.de/spiritualized/v ... 610#p82504

Just amazing, very much the futuristic soul/sci-fi space odyssey I was hoping for. Immediate classic... :D

Runcible - I don't own too much by Nick Cave to be honest. I think my post made it seem like I was a complete Cave nut but I am working my way through a few albums and picking up more as I go along. I bought the Good Son when it first came out then nothing for years until I thought I better get some more. Next was The Best Of, Dig Lazarus Dig, Boatmans Call, From Her To Eternity, plus Grinderman and the Birthday Party 'Bad Seed/Mutiny' EP. I love Dig Lazarus Dig but now really want to get some more early albums like Tender Prey and Your Funeral My Trial. I've played the Best Of an awful lot and prefer his early raw sound - songs like Tupelo, From Her To Eternity, Stranger Than Kindness are just amazing. Not bothered by his later period piano, almost solo, type albums

Never managed to see them live but did see Grinderman in London when their first album came out. Wish I'd seen the last Bad Seeds tour but I'll make it my mission to see them at least once in my life.

bought all the Birthday Party stuff when I was a teenager and IMO the stuff that lasts the test of time best is the last 2 eps Bad Seed/Mutiny fantastically fucked up stuff, as for the Bad Seeds I had everthing up untill Henrys Dream then I kinda disconnected, but I would say the first 3 albums were great and Kicking Against ,a covers album was the closest Nick came to a pop album,Tender Pray is a fine album some of his best stuff , I bought an album maybe 5 yrs. ago trying to pick up again( the one before the double album ) and it was okay but not good enough to make me jump right back in ,seen the Bad Seeds maybe 4 times and their a straight out great band with a fuckin` class A front man.

Yes, it is. It's even better than their first (although 'Embrace' is a very good record too). BUT, seeing them live is really special.

Today, I've been listening to Humble Pie's 'Town & Country' album. Sheer genius.

I really love Dark Night of the Soul by Dangermouse and Sparklehorse. Probably the best 'new' album I've heard this year.

Barry, maybe you should blow that happy house shit away by playing The Individual really, really loud. Although I don't know maybe that would be cutting off your nose to spite your face. Suicide, maybe?
