The Clash: Sandinista!

Haven't listened to this much for about 15 or 20 years years. I hated it back then, but it I'm pleasantly surprised by it. Frightening to think that this album is nearly 30 years old now....(sigh).

there was talk of a 30th anniversary deluxe reissue recently but it's been pushed back apparantly.

some interesting differencies to the studio versions.. word on a wing for example is driven by guitars rather than piano and he drops the falsetto, singing some parts an octave lower..
His voice cracks beatifully on stay :) edit: oh ffs it´s gone - 4:19 they have removed it on the official release. damn..

the station tracks are generally less stiff than the studio..
not so sure the versions of old songs are anything special, but what do I know..
(I love "david live" and the boots from that tour - many disagree.. including bowie himself!)

Ditto. I did not know about this being released. I am about to head off for the UK so will try and pick this up while I am there.

Currently listening to Highs, Lows and Heavenly Blows by Spectrum for the first time in a very long time. I had forgotten what a truely beautiful album this is. Unfortunately it runs at the same tempo as the horse I backed in the Melbourne Cup today....(sigh).

Before And After Science is a great record... don't care so much for the A side but everything on the reverse is a classic -- particularly Here He Comes.

And I've been listening to a lot of Elvis gospel lately... gorgeous stuff. A big favorite is "Somebody Bigger Than You And I."

Right now: The Band, "Don't Do It" from Rock of Ages. One of their best covers, from one of the great live albums -- Rock of Ages, now immeasurably enhanced with a second disc including some songs with Dylan.

Their two best albums.

Dude, live these guys were something else. The three guitar attack of Murray, Duncan and Cippolina (and later just Duncan and Cippolina) is 60's West Coast acid rock at its best. I never saw them but I have a load of live shows from '66-68 (their best years in my opinion).

I did actually meet Cippolina and even smoked a doobie with him in 1987! :D He signed the back of their first album for me too.

Cool story! Yeah i love their guitar sound. Only heard a couple of poor quality live tracks from them, but their studio stuff is mighty fine. I think i actually prefer the S/T album over Happy Trails... great none the less.

I bought this disc a week or so ago and haven't given it a play yet. It is on the Awkward label as Awkward26.
