The Temptations - Since I Lost My Baby

Quite possibly the greatest pop recording ever. Certainly, it has few competitors.

Godspeed! You Black Emperor: Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven

180g vinyl reissue, bought a while back but as yet unplayed. Quite enjoying it, but not sure I would want to sit through one of their gigs.

Bibio - Mind Bokeh (really impressed by this one so far, although it might not be as good as Ambivalence Avenue)
Gruff Rhys - Hotel Shampoo (fantastic)
Matthew Shipp & J. Spaceman - Spaceshipp
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake (aside from a few duds, this album is excellent)
Grails - Deep Politics (can't believe there isn't more interest in this album here ... oh well)

White Noise Sound; not bad but was surprised a how much it sounded like a mix of Alphastone and Black Rebel Motorcyle Club. Gotta love a bit of purple vinyl though....

NASA has been replaying different vantage cameras from shuttle flights lately, and it was a good time to really sit down in front of the projecter while listening to LAGWAFIS, 2009 issue. After the album was over, I added volume to the NASA channel, and heard, "well, ah, ladies and gentlemen, that was a sort of primer on shuttle rocket boosters. Ah, we, ah, hope that you enjoyed it". I did.

The new songs from The Horrors frontman Faris Badwans new band CAT'S EYES. Anyone heard/like? 4 track EP is out now and I'm really liking it. It's got 60's girl group, John Barry, JAMC, Spector vibes all over it.

got this a couple of months back and was so disappointed seeing as I loved You & Me. there seems to be a lack of decent tunes and the production seems so bland compared to that album. guess I'll keep trying.

i like it a lot now, but, no, it's definitely not as good as 'you and me.' i thought it was pretty disappointing at first too, but after i gave it a few more listens i started to like it a lot more- 'while i shovel the snow,' 'torch song,' 'blue as your blood' and 'stranded' are all fantastic songs. i think that the main problem with the record is that it gets off to such a weak start.

Chicano Power-Latin Rock in the USA 1968-1976.

Blaring Horns and wild percussion throughout this excellent comp. Some tasty Santana-esque guitar licks too.

I know They Transmit (Neil from Eat Lights;Become Lights) is a massive Neu! fan and his band are obviously heavily influenced by them. I love their track, Hallo Gallo, on the Deutsche Elektronische Musik album. Paul, what would be a good Neu! album to start with? Either of those 2 you mentioned already?

Neu! 75 is the most complete listen and is regarded as their best album. The first is excellent but less consistent than Neu! 75. Neu! 2 is really patchy as the financial plug was pulled before it was finished so they padded it out with sped up and slowed down versions of tracks already on it. Having said that it does contain 'Fur Immer' which is my all-time favourite Neu! track, so it's therefore essential in my book.

(sorry Paul - over to you - just wanted to add my 2 cents)

I think Neu! and Neu! '75 are that band's two essential albums. I also highly recommend Harmonia's Deluxe and Musik Von Harmonia. I'm sure there are more well-versed krautrock experts here that will happily chime in, too.

This blindingly good record by Jerry Lee Lewis called Soul My Way that is in fact his soul album, recorded in 1967.

Bought it second hand a few years ago now and never really gave it a proper listen...it's magic! All time great cover of 'Dream Baby' as previously done by Roy Orbison.

Jerry Lee, piano, and what sounds like a Stax rhythm section plus horns etc. Beautiful!

Bought a new DAC today, a Benchmark, so I've listened to:

New Order 16 June 1989 Irvine Meadows
The Clash 21 September 1979 Palladium
The Durutti Column 3 May 1995 Clapham Grand (last gig I went to before emigrating to Oz)
Cabaret Voltaire 26 May 1982 Nottingham Rock City
Dif Juz 11 January 1985 ULU

F*cking amazing bit of kit this DAC for the money.......will be even better when its got a few miles on it. Might try it on studio recordings soon, but its Stereolab and Spectrum gigs next.....

The Hills album is great. Much more psychedelic than krautrock this time - a hefty Wooden Shjips influence on the 1st track and lots of White Hills and related psych on the rest. 500 copies, vinyl only with 150 on blue vinyl.

yes, from the "dr. fusion" blog (they go for flacs rather than mp3s)

there is better things there than the above... the "deep brew" ones are pretty cool! (unspliced bitches brew bits and more)
