Funny - I've got The Creation's "Our music is red - with purple flashes" compilation on right now.

I've also been playing a lot of The Modern Lovers, as well as some Jesus Lizard and the first Cure album.

Glasgow's very own Macrocosmica... followed shortly by the Fiend trilogy (Caledonian Gothic, Caledonian Cosmic and Caledonian Mystic)

I've had a bit of a hankering this week to have some Stone Roses, perhaps one of the compilation albums, I've not gave them a spin in eons.

I was listening to the bootleg of LAGWAFIS this morning. Thank you tufty or Sim or Greeny can't remeber who did it. Y'can see I don't do bootlegs, really.

I've been contemplating it since; trying to guage the difference between how it sounded then and how it sounds now
Although comparing a live boot to a studio album is a piss poor start point, I can't help feeling the delivery of the narrative suffers now. By that i just mean how J delivers the lyrics. I also found a lot of the "key" work too sparkly for the overall feel of the album at the time. The gospel singers do it no favours. However it's delivered in a live setting and therefore the overall emotive relationship must change as you move from sharing with 1 to sharing with 1500.

I dunno, I think when I started with Spiritualized LAGWAFIS was my favourite album but my endless disection of it's parts has forced it down nr No 4 or 5.

Anyway, after that it was back to Bowie...AGAIN. Lots of Lodger Bowie. I'm thinking the whole Berlin "Trilogy" is a pure convenient journo rouse. I've thought this for a while...the 3 albums in question do not work as a trilogy.

The urgency of Station To Station is echoed in Lodger...as is the yearning for alternative grounds/habitat. Finding that a quadrillogy seems to put the devil to bed.

That said; both of these little waffle points will probably continue to seduce me for quite some time yet and therefore that must make them truly remarkable works.

i've been listening to test pressings of my band's 'new' record (it was released digitally in the fall of '09) since they came on tuesday. i just gave the pressing plant the go-ahead to continue with the pressing- it'll be on green vinyl. we were going to go on tour this year, but the booking really isn't working out so we're just going to try to figure out other ways to promote it.

Einstellung.

That Wings of Desire album is quite superb, as is the download of Sleep Easy Mr. Parker. My immediate reaction was they are Krautrock obsessives but I now find more in common with prime Kinski than anything else - the 'Be Gentle With The Warm Turtle' era which I still listen to with great satisfaction. Pounding repetitive riffs and drones that are completely hypnotic. If you're reading this Chris (Barrus), I have you to thank for Kinski and that makes this band right up your street. Neil Transmit - these guys must be familiar to you? Any info?

Heroes is the only one recorded in Berlin.. the other day I listened to it in its entirity for the first time in perhaps two years.
I agree the fake trilogy concept doesn´t work from a musical point of view either..
Station to station and parts of Scary monsters have strong stylistic similarities with separate "trilogy" albums that isn´t shared within the troika (even though on paper Eno is an argument for such a connection).
I vote for a pentalogy or a duology (both low and heroes mixed in berlin and co-written by bowie/eno).

I think that you could add Iggy Pop's The Idiot to those two to get a more appropriate Berlin trilogy for Bowie.

I can't stop listening to Captain Beefhearts Trout Mask Replica. After years and years of struggling with it it clicked into place the other week and now sounds like a glorious eruption of music and fresh as a daisy. I love it when that happens with those 'awkward' albums out there. May have happened due to my ears being tweaked and massaged into shape by all sorts of jazz the past few months. Either way, I now very much regret getting rid of my vinyl copy of TMR in my early 20's when I dismissed it as total nonsense with a few good songs inbetween.

i'm enjoying it, nice levels of energy, some great lyrics. pretty good guitar pop played loud 'n' fast (in the main), some clear '60's garage influences in there. its produced really well, guitars are clear and crunchy and the ride and crash cymbals sound great. fave toon at the mo is 'pull out'....

They used to be called The Muslims. They put out a 7" a year ago or so with an incredible version of "walking with jesus" as the b-side. They also play "losing touch with my mind" live. I liked all the stuff they did as The Muslims and I've heard good things about the new album. Waiting for it to come out on vinyl in two weeks.

Svaret Greiner - various mixes streaming on fluid radio, soundcloud & playmytape.

Got a real taste for this Norwegian' acoustic doom cinemascapes.

A new one?

My RSS is a bit hit n miss at updating and I'm only showing "take a stroll..." Is that the one you mean?

Cheers

EDIT: after some jiggery-pokery i've found it...nice title..."Car Mix"

http://www.optimo.co.uk/podcasts/audio/ ... ar_Mix.mp3

EDIT: Ha Ha Ha...I hope you approach this with an open-mind mkb, it is slightly predictable but that itself makes it unpredictable...enjoy the last song! I'm surprised that something off the chromatics Night Drive wasn't there or F.U.S.E. nitedrive.
