Stream of the Cavern of Antimatter album, void beats/ invocation trex, hypnotic, kraut-ish, mostly instrumental workout`s hitting the pleasure centres, includes a vocal/narration from Sonic Boom,

to try to redeem myself somewhat for posting that Ashcr*ft track yesterday, I quite enjoyed this remix of an exmagician track (guys who used to be Cashier number 9). New album in March should be worth a listen .

Jesu / Sun Kil Moon - not as good as the previous collaborations with Jimmy LaValle and Desertshore, not as good as Universal Themes either. The musical half from Justin Broadrick is completely underwhelming, maybe it's the kind of stuff Godflesh fans like but hasn't inspired me to listen to any of his other work. Mark Kozelek on idiosyncratic form, funny in places but meandering in others.
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

I'm enjoying the new single from Britta Philips. A cover version of a Evie Sands track (which I was unfamiliar with). I looking forward to her debut album in April:

After the disappointment of their last two albums I'm reminding myself of what AnCo are capable of, and this is one of my all-time favourite songs ever. After three minutes of build-up, the one and only officially licensed Greatful Dead sample kicks in; at 4m10s rainbow-coloured glitter bursts from the speakers and the song rides an ever-building wave of sheer unadulterated sugary gorgeousness.

(yeah, I like this song a lot)

Pere Ubu - 'The Modern Dance'
Somehow only heard this for the first time a few years back, but it's amazing! Definitely a big influence on early mercury rev, from the production to the vocals.

Parquet Courts - Sunbathing Animal.

The only album of the past 3 - 4 years that has DEMANDED repeated listening. Not just a couple of listens then left on the shelf, but the feeling of 'I won't be satisfied today until I listen to Sunbathing Animal.'

Gave it a spin twice yesterday and it still sounds great :D

i can't stop listening to 'suicide songs' by MONEY. i've not seen it mentioned here which kinda surprised me as it's fantastic and has a real 90s-psychedelic vibe to it, which i'm sure would appeal to some. To me it evokes verve and levitation - with fractured acoustic ballads, lush reverby guitars, and direct, desperate, intense and (seemingly) genuine vocals. curious if anyone else has heard it, and what they think. i'll be seeing them live soonish and i'm hoping they can do the album justice in that setting.

here's an audio stream of the album for anyone who's interested:

Just spinning this while cooking the Sunday roast. Such a lovely record and yet another fantastic release on Dom's Great Pop Supplement label. I think Alan has already bigged this record up but it really is worth checking out. I'm getting a kind of The Coral crossed with Mojave 3, Neil Young and The Byrds kind of vibe. Really is a perfect Sunday kind of record :D

You are correct. I love that Hanging Stars LP and still have a few left if anyone needs an original and not a repress. I think have 2 copies left at original price.

Also been listening to these Dave Godin's Deep Soul Treasures Vols. 1-4 Cds. Someone recommended them years ago here and they are superb. Whomever that was.....thank you.

Great album. Have now seen these guys 3 times, recently promoting the new album. "The Shadow of Heaven " their first album has Jamie Lee's vocals sounding very Choral in places. Both really great pieces of work. Try "Black" from TSOH.

Yeah i like the first album too - have given it quite a few listens since posting here initially. I was surprised at how different it is to the second. It's quite internally varied, with some really gorgeous tracks and others very dark and sparse. you're right, there's definitely more of a choral thing in places too. all in all, a great debut.

how were they live? i assume pretty good if you've already seen them 3 times :)

MONEY } The Shadow of Heaven and Suicide Songs. First saw them at Latitude Festival a couple of years back. They played on the stage in the woods and it was really like a Sunday morning service, intimate and chilled gig. Didn't take any persuading to go and see them again last year and this at the Green door Store in Brighton. Something different and recommended.

just discovered the wonder that is Hammock

dunno how these have passed under my radar.

described as: Hammock is an American two-member ambient/post-rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. Hammock creates atmospheric music by combining live instrumentation, electronic beats and droning guitar

...about nails it, really beautiful stuff. quite a Guthrie guitar sound.

Dead Skeletons - Live In Berlin

Inspired by Spzretent's post on this earlier (where did that go or did I imagine it? ) just given this a spin. It really is a great record and not sure why I (or anyone else) mentioned it before. I think, for me anyway, it got buried in a load of other new releases which I've bought in the last few months. Anyway, its a great live album and makes me really want to see them. I'm hoping (probably unrealistically) that they're going to get added to this year's Liverpool Psych Fest. They do seem to be rather (heavily) tied in with Fuzz Club Records so they may make an appearance at one of their many live events. Either way would just love to catch these guys live. 8)

It was there. I was drunk. It sounded eerily similar to someone else who posts here so I deleted it.
It is a great record. I love Dead Skeletons.
Addendum: I finally got a d/l code and have been listening to this in the car non stop. I also listened to a few boots and this LP blows them away. There should be somethong for everyone with this band from the motorik grooves to the full on psychedelic experience. Aggressive yet melodic. Glad I have nearly all their vinyl expensive though it may be.

Only chance I get at the moment to listen to music is when i'm doing the washing up so here's a couple that have provided the 'Suds Soundtrack' in recent days:

Honey - Love Is Hard. Three piece that operate at the punk end of the psych spectrum. Apparently featuring an ex Psychic Ills member but I haven't found anything online to verify that. Make a decent racket, like a more varied Destruction Unit.

Haikai No Ku - Temporary Infinity. Featuring Blown Out's main man Mike Vest and this doesn't sound too dissimilar to his chief band. Extended instrumental jams with plenty of noise and drone. I'd almost say it's like a heavier, harsher Carlton Melton 8)

preposterous!

check out the description beneath the video in question:

"Small Hours by John Martyn from a gig in Germany 1978. Have digitally improved sound & video of this legendary Scottish Singer Songwriter. Met him in Hamburg, was backstage at Markthalle with him and Danny and Angeline sharing a glass of wine (lovely Irish Lass) and JM & myself shared a ---- on the toilet of Inzbett B4 his gig in the Fabriek (he kicked shit out of his Echoplex in front of the audiance cause it didnt work - that fixed it and he went on to play small hours). He was also fond of going to the Zwiebel for a pint after gigs. A place hamish Imlach also enjoyed. The good old days. :o)"

A couple of songs from the new Psychic Ills album "Inner Journey Out". Hope Sandoval guesting on the track "I Don't Mind ". If these are anything to go by , this should be a brilliant album.
