I have been listening to this tune for nearly 25 years and it was only last night that I discovered the opening sample actually comes from Mission Control in the run up to the first moon landing :D
However, i have always been aware that the closing sample is from Pulp Fiction!

Absolute belter of a tune. One of my all time favourite acid techno tracks. Iggy Pop sample from Metallic KO on one of the remixes as well.
Ha! Natty, you bring up this track seven months later, just as i'm in the midst of another acid techno binge
Current obsession is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMYY93TNelA

A total acid trance-out that's a real 'Ronseal' tune if ever there was one. My only complaint is that it should be twice as long.

But YES! That's another belter. I absolutely love the stuff, used to DJ with it at traveller parties in another lifetime. Got a pile of '90's - early 00's acid techno and acid trance vinyl that rarely gets a rinse these days unless I'm feeling nostalgic.

A Slight Disturbance In My Mind: The British Proto-Psychedelic Sounds Of 1966 - another 3CD offering from Grapefuit. Lots of well know bands/acts such as the Yardbirds, Bee Gees, Hollies, Bowie, Kinks, Manfred Mann etc, plus lots of unknowns (well, unknown to me). Since Tony Blackburn took over Sound of the Sixties, with his narrow definition of what 60s music is, I can't listen to it, so it's great to have boxsets like this to hear the lesser played stuff.

They were amazing last week in Sleazy's Stevie. Played pretty much the entire a-side as one track. Was just incredible. His band just now are on fire! Said they'd be back around Sept so worth catching them if they head back.

No a fan as such but my cousin ran me up to Glasgow a yr or two back, I went into the ABC to see Goat and he went into Nice N Sleazy`s to see a reformed Thousand Yard Star, I left after the show finished and nipped in to Sleazy`s to catch the last few numbers and find my cousin, was okay as I remember and the place was rammed

I can hear elements of Bardo Pond at their most meditational and the early 90s incarnations of Spiritualized, Verve and Mercury Rev. Well, on the first track certainly.
Album coming on Cardinal Fuzz in June apparently.

I have to say that really lifted my spirits yesterday. I love that album but the communal appreciation made it sound even better.

I ended up playing a shit load of Spacemen stuff after, all of which sounded as good as it ever did. To think they were 20 & 21 years old when they made a lot of that music still blows me away. Talent on another level.

Is that the new monstrous CD release with masses of shows? Looked fantastic. I subscribe to the 'Dave's Picks' series which is very rewarding.

Until yesterday's Spacemen session I've been on a '71 Dead binge. Love Pigpen's contribution on a lot of those shows. Hard to Handle, Next Time You See Me etc...

Yeah.
It's 5 complete shows from 76.
Funny what you mention, because after giving that a quick listen I went back to a '71 show.
'76 was the full of slowed-down psychedelia-infused-with-cocaine jams.
I prefer my GD to be rocked out.
1971 hits that spot for me.
I went back to the 12-7-1971 show from the Felt Forum.

It was GBV/Bee thousand. due to several severe losses in my life, I haven’t been able to listen to music much at all. Hardly ever, ever! I guess with these strange and scary times I’m able to shift back into it again. I hope so...

I'm working from home so I can play music which is cool. I've shifted on from my Grateful Dead '71 fixation by way of Good Dope/Good Fun's excellent Felt show recommendation to more southern hippy sounds today. Little Feat and Lynyrd Skynyrd dominated wall to wall all day. I can feel an Allman Brothers session happening tomorrow...

I'm at home with the missus and we're doing a A-Z of bands. Taking it in turns to select a album, we're up to I at the moment.

I've had:

Air - Love 2
BJM - This is our music
The Cult - Love
Dean & Britta - Back Numbers
Eels - Shootenanny
Fun Lovin Criminals - Another Mimosa
Gulp - Season Sun
High Violets - 44 Down
Isobel Campbell - There is no other

The only condition is - because we are working - nothing too noisey or loud, so no Crass, Discharge or Motorhead etc.

Laurie Anderson : Tenzin Choegyal : Jesse Paris Smith - Songs from the Bardo

Acid Rooster - S/T: Instrumental psych jams well worth your attention.
Acid Mothers Reynols - Vol.1: Dunno who Reynols is but this is a pretty cool listen, only ruined by moments of intrusive vocals  Four songs spread over 40 minutes, the longest being the first, which clocks in at 17 min. The last song is probably the closest AMT have ever gotten to straight rock'n'roll!
Endless Boogie - Basement Jam Ritual: Look at the band, look at the title. You know the rest.. 8)
Spacemen 3 - Stuttgart '89 Remaster: Great recording. Not sure how it compares to the original though as i'm actually not that big a nerd to be able to make immediate comparisons!
Spacemen 3- The Black Lion 1985: Only three songs but notable for what i assume is the electric saz on Things'll Never Be The Same.

What with working from home and looking after Kids for the last week, my music listening is till best done on a Saturday night when they are all in bed. I mean I listen to music pretty much all day from the radio and when walking the dog but tonight is probably the only time I get to stick the turntable on, albeit with headphones.

So, midweek I phoned my local shop in Norwich to ask how I can buy from him considering he has no online presence at all. We chatted for a good half-hour and he was telling how he'll just have to take 3 months off. He kept apologising because he couldn't receive any new releases. To me, though, I don't mind that. There is always something I would buy from his stock. So, tonight, I'm going to be listening to the 3 LP's he sent that I've received this morning...Michael Kiwanuka's Kiwanuka...Cocteau Twins Victorialand and Miles Davies's Kind of Blue. Quite happy with them.

A whole day of it :D

Lorelle Meets The Obsolete - Re-facto: Actually decent remix ep where the tracks stand on their own merits.
Pretty Lightning - Jangle Bowls: Latest lp and a decent effort. Worth a listen.
Madmess - S/T: Stoner rock yes, but too clean and veering a bit too close to classic rock at times for my tastes. Maybe i just wasn't in the mood. Will give it a few listens anyways.
Spacemen 3 - Kaleidoscope, Chester 1986: Starship (or something similar?)/Come Down Easy/Things'll Never Be The Same/WWJ/Rollercoaster/Mary Anne. Great tremolo throughout!
Endless Boogie - Live at Nublu, N.Y.C 17/02/2019: There's not many sweeter sounds than EB in full tilt. Play LOUD.
Six Organs of Admittance - Companion Rises: New lp and combines Ben Chasny's finger picking and electric wig-outs simultaneously with added electronics at times. The juxtaposition of acoustic and noise really worked for me.
Arbouretum - Let It All In: Another new release and one that'll appeal to fans of Grateful Dead and Neil Young imo. Better than their last effort.
Acid Mothers Temple - Cometary Orbital Drive to 2199: The Electric Mainline one given three different treatments. Love it!

Tons of House Of Love.
I was a fan from the first 12".
During self quarantining one day I put 5 Cd's in to my player.
S/T, Butterfly, Babe Rainbow, Peel Sessions and Live at BBC.
I loved the S/T and the Butterfly Lp. the Peel Sessions are amazing as is the Live at the BBC. What stunned me was how much I loved Babe Rainbow now, 28 years in the rear view mirror. I remember being very underwhelmed by it upon it's release.
I realize what a blow losing Terry Bickers was after the first and part of the second lp was. Those two records they released right after the S/T are amazing. Sure they are less noisy but they are well crafted records.
I know their reviews got worse with each release. I think what a shame. Guy Chadwick is/was the real deal. He could write songs.
Worth another look surely.

Leon Russell - Homewood Session 1970-12-05
Grateful Dead & side projects - Gonna Get Down 73
The Band - Live At The Casino Arena 7/20/76

Jerry Garcia & David Crosby - The Perro Sessions, circa 1971

All on YouTube, playing merrily away in the background while I work from home.

Gonna hit that new Spiritualized NOX ORAE 2019 tomorrow. Got to be done after the flak dished out towards them on the Spacemen 3 Facebook page.

Hi, yes, I am in the Norwich area. Out towards the coast but have worked in Norwich since moving in '09 and spend a lot of time in the City. And, Paul, yes, Soundclash. Sold it to me when I found out they stocked Mississippi Records (...in East Anglia?!). I've only been here for 10 years though.

great isn't it? as a Six Organs super fan (I've recently filled in all the main albums, and now I've got a record player might also try to fill in the gaps of short run 7 inches and stuff.. could get expensive), the last one was just kind of okay and nothing new. Companion Rises is excellent though, I am playing it a lot.
he has also put some stuff up on bandcamp recently such as the very rare Maria Kapel which I recall Olan (I think) raving about on the board.

on a similar note, you also mentioned Acid Mothers Temple.. they have put up what seems like the vast majority of their catalogue on youtube.. good lockdown listening!

By far and away favourite SOoA LP and the one I tend to reach for when it is time to listen to them.

high praise indeed.. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but I did get it from bandcamp where Ben had it as 'pay what you want' so I chucked some dollars his way.
the completist in me still wants a physical version though..

I know there are a few fans of "late period" Talk Talk on here. If you're one of them, you'll probably enjoy this:

Been spending waaay too much money on Bandcamp since the lockdown began!!

I placed a large vinyl order from my local shop recently, which arrived two days ago:

The Orb: U.F.Orb
The Orb: Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld
John Coltrane / Cannonball Adderley : Coltrane/Cannonball
Miles Davis: Kind of Blue
Miles Davis: Miles Smiles
The Strokes: The New Abnormal
Flying Burrito Brothers: Gilded Palace of Sin
David Crosby: If I Could Only Remember My Name
Hamilton Bohannon: Bohannon (Does anyone else know him? Incredible 70s soul/funk/disco)

The Orb LPs sound incredible on my hi-fi. So deep and lush.

Back in my djing days, Bohannon was a staple. I particularly loved The Party Train (Parts I, II, III) from the Bohannon Fever album. I do not even know how many Bohannon albums I own. There was a great Wax Poetics article on him about 9 or so years ago.

Jean-Michel Jarre's back catalogue. A guilty pleasure.

I once mentioned to Pete K (when he was really getting into modular synths) about how I used to love Jean-Michel Jarre. His look said it all, although I see he is now blending both digital and analogue synths.

I've just got to Rendez-Vous, which I remember buying the Easter Weekend of 1986.

ha that's funny! a few years back when I saw Pete do his solo thing, it was part of a series of gigs based around synths and electronics. the band who supported Pete (can't remember what they were called now) were very much more on the glossy Jean Michel Jarre side of things. It made me realise how the category of 'electronic music' can actually cover a multitude of sounds!
