john hurt

Post by bunnyben »

i just listened to the immortal mississippi john hurt, my word from the first note i was nearly in tears, so beautiful. all you blues fans check it out!
'raging and weeping are left on the early road
now each in his holy hill
the glittering and hurting days are alomst done
then let us compare mythologies
i have learned my elaborate lie
of soaring crosses and poisened thorns'

who?

never heard of him!

alright enough of that. quick story, a few months back we did a trip of the south, staying for a few days in Avalon Ms, John Hurt's hometown. met some of his kin folk and drank moonshine from a mason jar. somethings will never change.

john hurt is simpy amamzing, i personally rate him above every other acoustic blues musician. i would also recommend his cousin Skip James, who would be second on my list.
